I am mounting a LCD screen in the master bathroom and want to pull a signal from the box in the master bedroom.  The box only has 1 HDMI out.

Question 1: Do they make an HDMI splitter so that I can use it for both the bedroom TV and the bathroom TV.

Question 2: Does HDMI typically also carry the audio signal, or do I need to run RCA's in addition to running the HDMI over to the new TV?

Yes you can get a splitter box, and yes it carries audio.

HDMI carries a audio signal. I would image that someone makes a splitter.

Some months back I had a helluva time getting my new LCD screen installed.  ARFcommers in the Movies/Home Theatre forum solved my problems!!  So I suggest you have this thread moved to that forum not GD.
Good luck!

Yes and you can find good price/service here.

HDMI does carry audio. However, not all sources can accept the audio. Are you outputing from your signal to an HDMI reciever or directly to the TV? Does the TV say it can accept the audio from HDMI in the manual?

I just RTFM and looked at the TV and it has in the HDMI input area the HDMI input, as well as RCA audio connectors.  The manual says that in the settings I can choose either digital for signal input through the HDMI terminal or analog for RCA terminal input.

Thanks on that, it would have sucked to run the HDMI drop only to find out that I needed to run RCA as well.

Now, with that out of the way...

If I have 1 FiOS box, and 1 DVD player in the bedroom as sources, and I see splitters do exist, can I still get away with only having to run 1 HDMI cable through the attic and down through the wall to the new TV to display both cable and DVD signal, or will I need to run from both sources independant to the TV?  i.e. is there a general parts list to display from 2 sources to 2 TVs?

I am OK with the fact that both TVs will have to display the same source.

I'm thinking this may be the way to go, but across all HDMI splitter/switch options, results seem to be mixed.

I hope you already know that whatever channel you have going out of the cable / sat box will be going to BOTH of your TVs and you won't be able to watch different channels on each TV at the same time... Its not like a coax cable that carries multiple channels on different frequencies, all you'll get is the 1 channel coming from the box.

I know that this is "Duuuuuh" but I've known people who've tried this and wondered why they couldn't get different channels on both tvs at the same time.

Even if that is my only option, its not a big deal, the TV's are only 10' or so from each other, so the sound would interfere anyway.  It is mainly for when my wife is getting ready or in the bath or whatever and wants to watch TV or a movie while she's in there.

The ARFCOM of AV.

The great benefit of having sound over HDMI is that it can carry 7.1 sound and Dolby/DTS True HD. Do a search on Yamaha V663 on the avs forum. It is a great reciever with many featurs for a budget price.

That looks like a great receiver for the living room, but overkill for what i'm trying to do in the master bedroom and bathroom which is running a DVD and FiOS source to 2 TVs with only a single HDMI cable running into the back of each TV providing the audio and video.
