Say you are carrying your firearm of choice concealed and while out running errands and without even thinking about you wander into an area where it is illegal to have a gun. (Courthouse, School, etc.) Suddenly you remember that you are carrying, but you are positive that no one has noticed yet.

Poll incomming...

Act natural, and find the nearest exit.  I've done it before.  Carried onto my base once, just as I was getting out of the vehicle I remembered.  Just got back inside and cleared my gun and hid it good, and took off my holster so that it wouldn't be seen.

NC doesn't allow ccw anywhere you have to pay an admission fee to enter.
IE movie theaters any sport event.
No entering of government buildings as well as if it is posted no ccw on the entrance Or anywhere alcohol is bought and consumed. Though If the alcohol is free than that is ok. Makes sense huh?

I go to the theater armed all the time as far as the post office or other government buildings I don't.
I'd be curious what the consequence would be if you entered a courthouse and turned your self in (just to give someone a heads up you made a mistake) would be. I guess it would depend on who you spoke with and what kind of day they were having.

I wouldnt accidentally carry into an elementary school or courthouse.  There are some places that are borderline and in MO, not a big deal if you get caught.

I don't know about a school, but chances are you won't "accidentally" wander into a courthouse.

Negligence is not an accident. I have never carried anywhere where it is illegal. I know the laws in the areas I carry a gun in.

I wonder how many crimes you commit in a given 7 day period and don't even realize it.

Can't wander armed into a courthouse in AZ, they've got metal detectors and TSA clones at the doors.  I doubt I'd carry knowingly into a school, and if I did for some reason I'd leave asap.   I've gone into a restaurant that serves alcohol without knowing they did until I'd sat down and ordered.  Since I conceal well I just ate my food as I normally would then left.  I don't go out of my way to break a law, but I'm not going to get my panties all in a bunch if I happen to sit down to eat lunch before I discover they serve booze.

Unless someplace has a metal detector or pat downs, My gun comes with me regardless of any sign or invisible barrier called "The law"
"The law" won't work a job to put food on the table after you've been shot dead someplace where you're not supposed to carry a gun.
I don't go out of my way to break these laws, but these laws won't stop the bad guy. Maybe I can.

I'm very forgetful about victim disarmament zones, I really must try harder.

But at that point you are the bad guy........with a gun.........

Turn around, get back in your car and leave immidiately

You turn yourself in of course and repent for your evil ways.

I think we all have done it. When I realize it, I just walk out to my car and leave it there. It is usually when me and my wife go out to dinner and they want to sit in the bar.

I pay attention to where I am going and no guns signs = no money from me.

The Kwik Shops in Kansas are all posted and the only decent convieneince stores around where I am from, therefore I make my way in and out as quickly as possible with, for the sake of this thread, an undisclosed armed status.

That's already been covered, I believe the guy simply had a few loose bullets in his pocket (not sure?) and he was honest about it but they reamed and arrested his ass.

I've heard of people getting caught around here by accident and they just ask them to go put it in their car or the "just don't do it again" thing.

EDIT: this doesn't include the courthouse

Probably a few, but the vast majority most likely cannot impact me in a negative manner for the rest of my life. Negligently carrying a gun into a courthouse or school is one that can,  When carrying a gun the same as driving a car, it's your responsibility to know where it can go and what is safe to do with it. Kentucky is very clear on where you can legally carry a weapon. I pay attention to where I am and what I have on me and have never had to calmly walk out of a place to return unarmed later.
