I got bored while I was cleaning out some old software.

I demand a bar-b-q pic to offset this tomfoolery.

300 baud?

Dude, that's not old, that's ANCIENT.

I know. I was around when it came out.

You have no idea.

I found a copy of Windows for Workgroups - on floppies.

Heh. I was digging through an old box of games not too long ago and I found my copy of Aces of the Deep (submarine simulator) on floppy...27 floppies... That was a serious pain in the ass to install back in the day. That's when I spent the big bucks to buy a Soundblaster 16 box set that came with an amazingly fast 2X(!!!) CD-ROM drive. Smokin'.

I also had a state-of-the-art 14.4K modem on that bad boy!

ETA: That was only 16 years ago. Wow.

Not that old.  Just 3.5" floppies.

We didn't.  I remember trying to download Usenet jpegs, then UUdecode them onto a floppy only to be disappointed in what I saw.

My test bench in the Corps used disks the size and weight of LTD hubcaps. I forget the amount of space on them, but it was not much.

<gramps> When I was your age, we got our internet through PHONE LINES, and we had to wait MINUTES for the naked girlies to show up on the screen.

<grandkids> WOAH!  How did you survive?

I was using a Dos/WfW everex laptop up until about 2005 when its HDD finally gave up the ghost. It had one meg of ram and a monster 60MB HDD.

I wasn't using it for much, it ran crosstalk, and booted to DOS in about 10 seconds, was perfect for a terminal emulator in a trans or switch room, and much easier than pushing a VT100 and its cart around.
