I'm selling a rifle in the EE. IIRC, I have to send it to an FFL, right? Does the buyer need to actually mail the FFL's license to me or can he fax/IM an image to me?

ETA Anything else I need to know about this transaction?

Has to go to an FFL.  Have the buyer make sure that their FFL accepts shipments from non-FFL holders.

I am against it.

He can just fax it to you or mail a copy.  You really just need to see that he is a current FFL and send it only to the address listed on the license.

There really isn't that much too it.

Against what, free trade?  or selling a gun.  Sometimes you just gotta part with one.

I let my local FFL handle things like this for me.  For the $25 it costs me there is no chance of anything coming back on me and I trust him and value the services he provides. Just my opinion.

Okay, now what actually needs to be done to ship? What carriers will take it (it is a single shot carbine), and who won't touch it? who is most reliable, and how much will it co$t me?

USPS is the cheapest I think.

and the safest

Shouldn't be more than $20

I don't imagine they'll pick up, will they? Do I need to display it at the counter, or do they accept the fully-wrapped package?

I'd use FedEx or UPS.  Easier to track.

Some FFL's will not send their license to non-FFL's.

I always just dropped it off , also you tell them it's a long gun in there .

They don't have to see it .
