How long before some idiot is killed impersonating this nonsense? www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7ftozVc3lI I saw the trailer this weekend, and there is a scene where a bullet is heading for one of them, and they shoot it out of the air. It wouldn't surprise me if someone were stupid enough to try this. |
They just attached the string to the middle of the bullet, duh
|
|
That's the difference between a regular caliber like .308 Winchester, and .300 Ultra Super Weatherby Nitro Remington Magnum.....the ability to shoot around corners with the trajectory of laser beamz, Yo. Hornady is working on a new 'zig zag,' bullet for S curve type shots in conjunction with Crane Naval Surface Warfare. Rumor has it the project engineers enjoy smoking hooch, hence the projectile name. |
|
The movie is retarded, but it actually is completely physically possible to modify the trajectory of a bullet so that it goes around an object directly in front of the barrel to hit another object directly behind object 1. You just need a starting path that misses the barrier object and a sufficiently powerful gravitational or electromagnetic field to curve the bullet's path. You just need a powerful enough magnet or enough mass to get the job done. |
I don't know - I mean, I don't think anybody tried to dodge bullets in slo-mo after they saw The Matrix. |
|
It's called HOLLYWOOD, folks. Just a hint: Keanu Reeves didn't really stop those bullets in the matrix with his outstretched hand, dinosaurs don't really inhabit Jurassic Park, and Bruce Willis didn't really fly to an asteroid to plant a bomb. "Suspension of disbelief." |
I suspect a singularity would do it, but a magnet would not work too well without the bullet having a steel core. |
Didn't the Mythbusters already disprove this? |
We have people who have died because they asked a buddy to stab them to prove how awesome their body armor was. We have people who think a loaf of bread will stop a hollowpoint bullet. We have people who think .45 GAP is a viable caliber. I'm sure at least one person has gotten himself killed trying to dodge bullets or disassemble a handgun like in Lethal Weapon 4. |
| I don't know what you guys are doing wrong but it works fine for me. Blade at at 45 degree angle and just flick your wrist in a counter clockwise motion. Practice makes perfect. Oh and it only works in 45 cal. 9mm won't work just like it doesn't work in other situations. |
You mean it won't?!!! Bullet Proof Bread |
Ok i went out and found a cat. someone explain me how to do this so i dont lose another pet! |
You'd need magnets capable of lifting a fully loaded 18 wheeler clear off the ground to do it. if you can afford magnets that strong, why not a gun strong enough to go through the obstacle? |
I've seen it before but this just cracks me up:
|
Mythbusters proved that you couldn't do it with anything remotely practical. Still physically possible though.
|
I take it you never read the book.. because in the book.. Dinosaurs do inhabit the park, hence the whole point of Jurassic Park..
|
I never said there was any real reason to do it or that it was practical, just that it was physically possible. I'd honestly thing the easiest thing to do would be to side step a foot or two and get a clear line of sight.

Don't forget the dumbass kids who watched that anime about controling sand, and decided to try it. Buried thier friend and killed him. |
