ATF apologizes for misleading letter, says it gave out tools The Associated Press • Published May 31, 2008 Comments The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives apologized to U.S. Rep. Bill Sali of Idaho for a misleading letter indicating he played a role in the agency's decision to drop its "Always Think Forfeiture" slogan. The slogan was actually dropped after Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski complained. Sali claimed responsibility two weeks ago, only to learn later from news organizations he had nothing to do with it. The slogan was abandoned in March after Murkowski's complaint. Two-thousand multi-tools were engraved with the slogan and were to be handed out at ATF training sessions for law enforcement agents. But lawmakers including Sali feared it would encourage agents to seize weapons from even law-abiding citizens. In his apology last week, acting ATF director Michael Sullivan conceded the agency had distributed 242 engraved multi-tools. Previously, the agency maintained none had been distributed. |
I think the ATF should be declared enemies of the public, dissolved as an organization, have all their rules and regulations struck down, and every member either imprisoned or deported to Somalia. |
Elect me as president and I'll do just that except for the deportation. I'll transfer them all to ICE and station them at the border, BWAHAHAH. . Then I'll turn that fancy new building into the grandest monthly gun show on earth.I think the remaining 1700 tools should be sold for $20 apiece and 100% of the proceeds sent to the ILA legal defense fund. |

They should be declared legal to own as long as it is not used for its intended purpose and the said ATF agent does not possess any screw, bolt or piece of wire ( or any other article at the whim of the director) that allows the before mentioned item to be used as a "tool" the item does not have to be proven it was used as a "tool" only that possession of the item and piece of material that could be worked on would constitute possession of a "tool" and therefore be illegal |
. Then I'll turn that fancy new building into the grandest monthly gun show on earth.
