After watching him on Today, I've got this sneaking suspicion he's going to run for some office.

I've often fantasized about (among MANY other things) running as a screaming liberal commie pinko rat, only to turn coat once elected and ban all entitlements.

I wonder if he's beat me to it...

LOL, if so he he's even dumber than his press conferences suggested.  He might try for the role of Fredo in the remake of The Godfather though

Sell out, backstabber, traitor, rino, all of these apply, he has to sell his "book" now while Bush is still in office, otherwise he gets nothing.

Scott is right on, and despite the fact that he waited so long, and is making money off this, he's still making himself a target.  He has, what Tina Fey described as "retirement balls."

Yeah, he's made such a bold move by writing that book, I'm sure he'll retire fabulously wealthy.

That strategy will only work if someone even wants to read his book, writen by a guy who set the bar for defining what the worst press secretary of all time should be. That guy was pathetic. Maybe DU can buy some cases of his book for fundraisers, but that's about it.

#1 on Amazon. "The Rosetta Stone for future historical examinations of the machinations of the "Bush Administration"... Meaning, the Neocons.

The dude was a true blue Texas simpleton who was used, abused and thrown out. Now he may have been the littlest bee, but he has his sting and is using it.

The cover of the book (showing McClellan and Bush) should rightly be titled "Dumb and Dumber" but that title was already taken.

I'm still trying to get what all the hubub is about. So far nothing that has come out in the book is in any way new. Bush "propagandized" the runup to the war? No shit! They thought Saddam needed to go so of course you try to turn people to your side. That's debateing the issue folks. Much ado about nothing as usual.

Bob Dole says Bob Dole is mad at Scott McClellan.

The former Senate majority leader and 1996 Republican presidential candidate sent a nasty e-mail to McClellan calling him a "miserable creature" for his latest book blasting the Bush administration, FOX News has learned.

In the e-mail, Dole basically describes the former White House press secretary as a traitor looking to cash in on the "liberal" media's distaste for President Bush.

This is the original e-mail:

Scott,

There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues. No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique.

In my nearly 36 years of public service I've known of a few like you. No doubt you will "clean up" as the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm. When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, "Biting The Hand That Fed Me." Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years.

I have no intention of reading your "exposé" because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job. That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively. You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?

Kick ass. I don't like any politicians or diplomats, but Dole has got to be the closest to likable I know of.

Bush/Cheney/Rove/neocons assume power and do things they aren't straight-dealers about.  Weasel goes along with it and actually helps them.  Then, weasel leaves and decides NOW to say something when it's too late.  Bob Dole shoots the weasel.  Sweet.

I agree with ARF.  Do you think Maclellan's lying about anything he wrote?  I haven't heard one of the "accused" even hint that he lied so far.  They're just shocked and dismayed by his "sad" recent turn of personality.  He's not like the man they knew.  He's "disgruntled."  Nowhere do they flat out say he is lying, do they?

Being a weasel, he's already saying he has "great affection for the president" and that his views "evolved over time" to weasel out of what he wrote pissing people off who like him.  He doesn't, however, admit he lied and sticks by what he wrote.

Sounds like "retirement balls with partial remorse" to me.

I don't believe for a second he was the player he made himself out to be in the Administration.  I don't believe he was party to many of the things he is commenting on and is speculating, or offering opinions with at best limited insight that he is passing off as objective observations.  I do believe Karl Rove put a pretty harsh smackdown on Scott about the Katrina flyover proving that Scott didn't have a fucking clue what he was talking about.  The photo op needed to be done to show the president was there.  To land on the ground would have shut the airport and airspace down at a time when supplies needed to be moved in to save lives.  Not going wasn't an option.  While an imperfect solution with downsides, it was the best option.  Scott wouldn't fucking have a clue about that and criticized the decision as being aloof and uncaring, but it sure is a nice backhand to throw at a man who was between a rock and a hard place.
