What's a way of figuring RON.

Most gasoline is sold as premium with an averaged number, RON + MON/2 = Octane.  Most of the Premium is 91 octane, with an occasional 92.  So my question is what is the RON of this Premium.  I've heard the variance is usually around 10, so 91 Octane at the pump would be 96 RON and 86 MON or close to these figures.  That about right?

Not sure if it would be easy for the consumer to figure out.  Tests are used to figure it out.
These explain it a bit.
