Dude, give up the sauce for a few weeks and see how you feel, this shit is nothing to ignore.

ETA: Smokes as well. Sad I had to add that.

Did you cough violently? I have coughed up a little blood once. Sometimes when we cough hard, it will break blood vessels in the throat.

Last few days I have felt very weird.  Yesterday I had cold sweats.  The night before that I couldn't drink enough water.  I am a smoker, only in my twenties though, so when I woke up this morning and coughed it was no surprise.  Spit into the toilet and there it was.  Bloody mucus.  I am kinda a hypochondriac so that startled me so fuckin much and made me so nervous I just puked right there.  I am a pretty heavy drinker, yes I am heavy, and I drink alot.  Last week before Mothers Day leading up to it I was drinking quite a bit.  Felt like crap after mothers Day and then this.  Should I go see a doctor, I haven't spit up blood since.

I would see a doc. I am a smoker and I drink a lot and I have never coughed up blood.

Yes, for some reason it was a really deep and violent cough.  Not like something was already wrong, but like coughing caused the blood

I betcha that's it. Call your doc, and tell him. If he's worried, he will tell you to come in.

The whole dibs on the guns thing is just the standard joke whenever someone asks for medical advice.

Spitting up blood could be anything, from rupturing a few blood vessels while coughing to something more serious. Have it checked out just in case.

I mean really, I know that all bad things have to start somewhere, but I am trying to convince myself that whatever is wrong with me over the past couple days is of not drinking after last week, then this morning, coughed so damn violently that ripped something.  I have tried to recreate the cough at work to see if bloody mucus would come up, but just little salive with a miniscule amount of red color.  Or what looking like about a mililiter of blood in the saliva.

I'm a hypochondriac myself. I called my doc, and he laughed at me. I was 27 when this happened. Was the blood bright red, or dark/black?

Jesus Man, not to sound preachy, but maybe this is your wakeup call to stop smoking, lose weight and cut back on the drinking.  Only in your 20's and it sounds like you've already given up.

No offense taken.  Mother's Day happened to be the last day I could smoke, drink, or over eat for that matter.  Have a physical in about 4 months.  I have always been pretty athletic with things like wrestling, but after school, the pounds just kinda add on over the years.  Figured the not drinking and smoking was why I felt so weird.

Meh.

New blood, not old blood that has traveled from very far (i.e. lungs).

Don't worry about it, it's probably a broken blood vessel.

Call you doc, and tell him about it.

could be bleeding ulcers from the booze

That was one of my first thoughts, but I have no stomach pains, chronic coughing, or anything else to indicate in that direction.  I think I am gonna try and go to sleep and get ahold of my doctor and see him on Monday.  Thanks for the input guys.

That would come in the form of vomit, or stool. It also would be black in color.

You may very well be in the early stages of congestive heart failure.

Get your ass to the ER NOW.

Exactly what I was thinking-or first signs of lung cancer.

Why do you smoke? The label says they will kill you. Doesn't matter if you are in your 20's. Typical first sign of lung cancer. Happened to my dad at Thanksgiving several years ago.  Coughed up blood, went to doc and it was lung cancer. The End.

Why aren't you at the hospital? Oh.  You're a tough smoker. Forgot.  Do you have tattoos also? Cancer is tougher than you. You better get to the doc.

Doctor, now.
Coughing blood is not normal, never.  It could be benign, but odds are against you.
It never hurts to get checked out, and delay could kill you.

You're perfectly fine.  One day of a little blood coughing never killed anyone.  It's the 2 weeks of blood coughing that does them in.

You overdid it a little.  Take a few days to relax and heal.  Ease up on the smokes for a day or two.

EDIT:  I'm not a doctor, nor do I have any medical expertise.  I was, however, a heavy smoker and woke up to a bloody cough on a couple occasions.

This is not the sort of thing that can be diagnosed over the net.

There are literally dozens of differentials for coughing up blood (hemoptysis)

Certainly alcohol (diuretic, which dehydrates you) and smoking (which irrritates the linings of the respiratory system) do not help, but the only definitive answer is from a Doc, who may run any of a variety of tests.

Bye.....   Your already dead but don't know it.

GO TO THE FUCKING DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!

Have you ever seen a post that AR15.com has saved a person from dieing?

Jeez-o-be. This is the last place that I would come for medical advice or relationship advice.

Matter of fact I would not go to the Internet for any type of medical advice or relationship advice. I would go here for gun advice and that's about it.

Go to the fucking hospital right now you stupid shit. And I say that for your safety. No offense intended.

Thanks for the newsflash that smoking isn't healthy.

I'm also not the OP.
