This has got to be the most ridiculous practice I have ever seen.  Poeple who bump intentionaly I can see, but when a person responds to someone who posted on the add so that it clarifies for everyone reading is ridiculous.  I have been using the internet and forums for longer than I want to admit.  Somewhere around when windows 85 came out Never have I seen such a dum practice.  Way to go!  Make it difficult for people to buy and sell.

The rules are clearly posted.  You can respond in the original post or via IM.

BTW:  When did Windoze 85 come out?  I was still using my Commodore 64 back then.

Wow, you have been around a long time!

I joined arfcom in 1983 though, so I think I've earned the right to say:

If you don't like it then don't post your shit here, go to eBay

On the other hand, if you put something up to sell and ALLOW bumping like that, you'll never get anything sold because people with no life will keep bumping their own ads.

This is a way to make sure exposure is fair on a high traffic board.

That said, you're in Colorado so be sure to check the RMGO ads page.

Yeah, it was and for a while Ed Jr. actually moderated every post to the mailing list.

I've still got a lot of that stuff saved on one of my really old computers.

ZERO TOLERANCE FOR BUMPING!

Even if it is well intentioned, clarifies your ad, and isn't a shameless advertising technique, it's against the rules and will be punished with the full force of Moderation-Fu.

If you don't like it, you can always leave and go to one of the other 2,000,000 forums where this isn't necessary.

I remember back when Google was by mail.  You'd mail in a search request and then... aw fuck it.

Original Poster (whose name I don't give a fuck about), this site is free.  You're listing (presumably) stuff for sale for free and reaching a large community.  Try that with a newspaper or any other medium.

Try it with CraigsList (you will be shut down if it's in any way offensive to Hippies) or try it with E-Bay (you will be shut down if it's in any way offensive to E-Bay's lawyers)

Don't rock the boat, motherfucker!

Oh, come on!   It is obviously the troll account of someone who doesn't want to risk their real account by whining.

the admin should alter the board code for that section to programmatically force the ordering of threads to comply with the btt timing rules.

Or they can just leave it the way it is and make people follow the rules or have their thread locked.

Why is it always so hard for new people to follow rules?
