Personally, I think the stuff is disgusting. Since coming to the midwest I've noticed that nothing is safe from being doused in it.. Aside from regular salad (nothing funnier than seeing a girl order a salad because shes on a diet and then load it ranch dressing), buffalo wings, chicken rings (its a white castle thing), pizza, twice baked potatoes, etc, etc. Nothing is safe. WTF is that stuff made from anyways, the devils ejaculation?

I use it as marinade to bake chicken, sometimes. Marinade the chix breast for as long as you want, even overnight, in this mixture: Ranch Lemon juice Little oil Garlic salt Pepper Bake at low heat as to not burn the ranch. 300 degrees for about 45 mins works best. Baste the chicken as it cooks with the leftover marinade, and the stuff that cooks in the pan. |
| Never heard of the stuff before wifey came on board. Now its a must have for her and the two chilluns. I can take it or leave it but often its the only game in town around these parts! IMHO blue cheese (roquefort) is the best followed by Dorothy Lynch and then ranch a distant 3rd. |

Just gave ranch another try as I havn't had it in years and figured that maybe my taste buds changed. My female friend took me to outback steak house, she ordered the cheese fries (with bacon) for us to split as an appetizer and dropped off a bowl of ranch with them. The fries where tasty but when I tried them with ranch, not only did it completely kill the taste of cheese and bacon, but it tasted nasty. |
I can't stand ranch dressing (but I like ranch flavored things )I much rather prefer a nice Italian, Honey Mustard, or French/Catalina dressing on my salad. I understand that some people like different things than I do, but slathering ranch dressing on EVERYTHING is disgusting. |

I never really had a problem with ranch dressing in my younger years. I was not really a fan, but i wasnt a hater either. Then things began to change. I got into cooking, and after a while, ended up with a sous chef position at a tapas joint with some very complicated cuisine. All or our salad dressings were hand-made from top shelf ingredients and fresh herbs and fruits. In fact, we were known in the trendy/upscale dining community for our unparalleled dressings. The only complaints we ever got were from fat white trash ho-bags who would wonder in after reading a review, and immediately be outraged that we wouldn't douche her salad with ranch dressing. This is usually the same bitch who would get upset that we did not have ketchup for the beef carrpachio or tartar sauce for the seared ahi sushimi. years later, i took a job or a pub/grill type place to make ends meet, and this is when i truly learned the horror of ranch dressing. i cant tell you how many times i served people 3000 calorie baskets of fried cheese curds, along side a tub of emulsified animal and plant fats (ranch dressing) per their request. gross. Buffalo wings, fine french fries, fried cheese, pizza, just say no. |
Oops, I misread that as saying "since coming FROM the Midwest..." That kinda makes my reply inaccurate now. I wouldn't be surprised if people from the Midwest (OH) didn't like Ranch very much. Food in that area tends to be bland compared to other regions in the country. There was a big thread not too long ago about this. I think Dusty_C started it. I wasn't being smug or anything, it was just a regional observation. |
