I am sending the Yugo to a wood stripping joint to start a refinishing job on the original wood stock. It is bone dry, so I am stripping it, linseeed oil and staining to it's then maybe some poly on top to protect the wood/finish.

When I dropped off the stock, I left the goofy cross bolt in, mainly as I don't have or have ever seen a tool used to remove them.

It's basically a rounded button threaded in the center with two small almost pin sized holes. I guess I could have a machinst make me a tool to remove it, but figured I'd check here to see if anyone had a solution.

The stripping place is pretty adamant that the chemicals used to strip the finish will damage any metal.

Anyone seen or found a tool to take out that cross bolt?

Thanks in advance.

I made a tool years ago out of an old needle nose pliers. I just ground the tips of the jaws until they fit the 2 holes. You could also use snap ring pliers, I would think.
