Okay so I have this laptop and I was looking through it and I found a file that doesnt belong there that is from the last owner that I need to get rid of but it wont delete. Does anyone know how to get that file off? It is a picture file but it doesnt virus scan and it doesnt show and wont delete. Help guys?

Right click on it, hit properties, security tab. Make sure you have all access to read, write, etc.

When I right click on it it doesnt give me properties. I says that it will let me preview the pic(it wont), will let me send to(it wont), edit it(it wont) print, well you get the idea.

Since you know where the file is located, open a command prompt (DOS window) by going to Start, Run, and typing cmd, then clicking OK. (If it's Win98, type command instead of cmd.) Change directory to the location of the file. Once in the correct folder, type attrib -s -h -r -a <name of file>. You should then be able to see the file and delete it as desired.

Even if you get it deleted, check out Unlocker.  I like it.  I've used it at both home and work.

Honestly, youre better off reinstalling.  God knows what the previous owner had/has/installed on that computer.  Theres no way in the entire universe I'd use a used computer without reinstalling first.
