Anybody know how to "undo" the Chrysler "deathflash?"
(Motorheads will know what I'm talking about.)

I'm a gearhead, and you'll have to enlighten me.

Did the dealer flash it?  What motor do you have?  Why did you get a deathflash??

I took my "computer controlled" Jeep in for a service several years ago.
I had recieved a letter from Chrysler instructing me to do so. They had it for about half a day and when I picked it up it ran like crap! I had lost power and my MPG went down also! I mentioned this to a mechanic friend and he laughed and "oh, the old "Chrysler deathflash." I'm thinking it has something to do with emissons.

would disconnecting the battery and waiting 5 minutes reset the ecu? Might cause it to revert back to a default setting...

You're pretty much screwed.  From what I've heard about the "death flash" the dealer did it to "correct" some issue with certain engines.  It doesn't actually fix the issue, just covers it up by retarding the timing, etc, basically robbing some of the power of the engine.  One thing you might be able to do (I haven't heard if this is successful or not) is get it performance flashed by a performance shop and see what happens...

Sounds like you are screwed unless you get it reprogrammed somewhere else.
