The USMC hot weather boots on closeout at LApolicegear.com.  Do they have the EGA on the heel leather?  Asking because I'd like to buy a pair, but if they have the EGA I won't.  Thanks.

If they're USMC, they will.

Thanks.  Good for Marines looking for deals.  Bad for me.  Oh well.

get them and hit them with a belt sander.  I've had Belleville's and Bates and where the name was stamped was never very deep, if you weren't picky about how they looked, it would probably 'buff right out'.

Well a 'belt sander' would probably be too aggressive, but sandpaper, etc (as posted above) or maybe a wire brush would probably work.  The Bates ones I have now, the 'Bates' name is really lightly stamped.  I would imagine if I wanted it off, it wouldn't take much.  If they're cheap enough and you want them, it might be worth a try.

ETA:  This Marine I knew had a pair, and you couldn't really see the logo after he put a few miles on them anyway.  The suede turned a couple shades darker.

Bates Lites with some good insoles will give you a serious leg up on the competition when it comes to PT. True story, after switching to other boots when my bates were still wet, it felt like running with bricks for shoes.

steve-oh, are you back from OCS/completed it? I hope it went well for you!

To the OP, even if they do have the EGA, don't fret about wearing them. Bates makes fine boots, as long as you don't go about touting that you served as an elite sniper assassin in the 101st Marine Division, you're fine.
