sucks,  it is kicking my ass.  How can I make As in economics all day long but I'm probably only going to get a B in OM?

I took Operations Mgmt over the summer.  So it was an 11 week course crammed into 6.  I had another three classes that quarter for a total of 16 credits.  But Ops definitely took up the bulk of my time, about two quizzes per week (i.e. two chapters a week), plus our Excel based Production Operations Simulation project, and reading "The Goal" by Eliyahu Goldratt.  Made for a shitty experience.

I just took an OM midterm today.  One of the hardest tests I've ever taken.  The stats is killing me, and my dad is pissing me off.

(Director of Operations at his company) "Statistics?  Ha, I don't use any of that crap.  Who's Deming?"

ETA:  Weird, I aced all of my econ classes also, with little effort.

I remember my Ops final.  It was scheduled for 8:00am and I woke up at 7:58 (it's a 15 minute drive to campus IF I pay to park on campus and not park at the park-n-ride and take the bus).  I arrived about 20 minutes late only to discover there was NO ONE in the classroom.  After frantically searching around the building for my class someone noticed me and told me someone pulled the fire alarm and the class was moved to a neighboring building.  I finally started the exam at about 8:35 and finished right as time expired at 9:50.

For me, I'm having trouble keeping track of all the various information.  Keeping track of five different theories on quality that are all lengthy, but with few differences, and being able to write an essay comparing/contrasting them is difficult for me.  And the statistics.  I'm getting an A in calc, but fuck stats.

My professor is also a difficult one.  I've never had a test in a class of 140, where only three people finished before the end of class.  I'm usually one of the first ones done, but not today.

That gives me that sinking feeling in my stomach just thinking about it.

Ah yes, who doesn't like writing an essay on Demming's 14 points.

I never apply the correct equation or if I know I try to overcomplicate it.

I have little problem with accounting.  OM- my brain just doesn't get it.

Holy crap that test was hard.  My brain actually hurt afterwards.  We had accounting class after the test and the accounting instructor actually had to ask us what was wrong with us.  It was like we were all stunned or something.

And we have this Russian fucker that worked for some stupid Russian factory South of Moscow doing OM and he kills our curve.

I'm thinking murder.  By AK.  How ironic.

First time I took it, I got a "D" (granted there was some other shit going on)... Those long ass trees and shit fucking killed me.

Our mid term, we had 4 questions and 2hrs... I only finished 2 questions, but they were 98% right. So I got like a 49 on the grade. I complained, I said it was BS and more time should have been given for the exam/questions, I showed I knew the work... I still got fucked, teacher was a bitch.

I ran out of time on this one.  I finished but would like to have done more work on it.

I took Ops Mgmt last semester, it was weird taking a college class that was actually directly applicable to my job.  Applied stuff I learned from that class into my job, got noticed by superiors and incorporated into reports and PDSAs.

He does econ.  But I'd bet he knows a fair amount about OM.  I wished he lived in OK.

I thought he called himself an Economist?

Organizational theory is more touchy feely.  I'm taking that this semester also.  That you can BS your way through.  They LOVE the buzzwords.

Technically everyone is an economist. But that's not DK-Prof's academic area (and I am sure he will chime in here to correct me if I am wrong)

His line of study is business-related and involves a lot of economics that makes him more informed about it than the guy who learns about international trade from Lou Dobbs and monetary economics from Ron Paul.

 So true.
