OK, why did you choose the TA31F in the first place?

I like the TA31F red chevron better than the TA01NSN crosshairs.

But that's just me.

TA31F because I trained with them in the Corps.  I also like how the red chevron has a distinct point and doesnt obscure your target.

I thought the USMC used the TA31-M4 or A4??

I also got a TA31F.  I got it based on the recommendation of Zack3g (in chat.ar15.com #lobby) after he explained why he liked the chevron reticle better than the triangle.  I got mine zeroed 2 weeks ago and it is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.  The 4x magnification allows it to be used for close in (50 yd) and distance shooting (300yd or more) with ease.

We now use the TA31RCO A4, but before that, we used the 31F.  The only difference are the bracketing lines for calling indirect fire.

I own a TA01.
I like it but if I was to get another I would get another/other.

PS I will get another but it won't be a TA01.

I went through the same question before I bought the 31F.

The TA31F is lit during the day, and you pick that sight up just as fast as you would an aimpoint.  Very bright and very clear.  Sure, the TA01NSN is probably more accurate, but this is a COMBAT gunsight.  Its made for acquiring your target and putting men down at distance.  It also has the BAC, which allows you to use it with both eyes open.  With a little practice, you can be just as accurate with this thing as with a crosshair scope.

But hey, YMMV.

And no matter what ACOG you get, get the LaRue mount for it.  The two were made for each other.

I'd go with the TA11 series.MUCH better eye relief.

I have both a TA01 and a TA31RCO-M4. The big difference is what you intend to use your scope for. The TA01 with the cross hairs is a little better for paper target shooting, where the TA31/11 series has the BAC and is designed more as a battle type optic. I personally like the TA31 with the constantly red lit chevron over the black daytime crosshairs of the TA01. I've luckily not had to use either in a battle type situation and probably won't either. You can't really go wrong either way. I'll probably be selling my TA01 here soon to buy a TA11E for a new AR10 .308 purchase..... unless someone here has one they'd like to trade.

I have the TA-33R. I have had a TA-31F, TAO1NSN, and TA-11 over the years. The TA-33R is the quickest to pick up of all of them. It is a 3x but has the same chevron and ranging reticle as the TA-31F, but because of the 3x the eye relief is longer. I find the extended eye relief to be helpful in the ease of picking up the target quickly. YMMV.

I'd skip the NSN.
I had one for six years but sold it a few years ago.

The small reticle was cool for precise work, but the illumination is very weak and calibrated for NVG compatibility.  For a 4x optic, it's very slow in acquisition when compared to the the donut/chevron ACOGs.

The backup iron sights were worthless.
Worse than handgun sights, and putting another $300 in optics on top wasn't worth it.

I have a TA01 and agree with the above posters.

The reticle is nice for more precise shooting but is slow for aquisition.

The Ta31 will be my next ACOG.

I have a TA01-NSN, If I were to do it over again, I would probably get the TA31F.  The crosshair is great for longrange, but under 50 yards, I have a hard time getting quick target acquisition.

In matches, I usually get toasted by others when the targets are close, but it evens out at 75 yards.

Sure sure sure, blame it all on me..

I will say that I love my TA31F

Out of your choices I'd say TA31F or TA31XXX (such as the RCO-M4).

I looked at both before I bought my TA01.  Everything else aside, I liked the crosshairs better than the chevron.  I haven't had any issues with it in the couple of years I've had it.  *shrug*

Personally I don't see why anyone would own a 01NSN when they could have a 31F.

Yes I have owned both, now I have two 31s.

I don't know about the other models, but I like the 31 series.

I bought the 01NSN because it was on clearance and $350 less than the 31

Hard to argue with those numbers

I wanted an NSN cause I thought it'd be good on top of my AR for acquiring my target if I was ever hunting with it, and because I like that it comes with its own BUIS.

Now I'm not so sure. between that and the TA31F..

I have both. I've used both in combat, I'm a 31B (old 95B MP). For me the TA31F rules in close quarters, TA01-NSN owns everything else. TA01's can and do get head shots at 200+ m. Thats why my NSN is on loan with a sister unit in Iraq (shooter was issued a M68) What are you using the scope for?  If your a 11B (using a M4) running and gunning, get the TA31.
My 2¢ and I voted other. Lots of new ACOG's to try out.
Good luck!

I got mine for $500.

I got it "used" with the SWFA receipt still in the factory box.
It was dated three months before I bought it.
I cannot imagine what a beating the previous owner took.

bought mine from SWFA but mine wasn't used, but used as a display model.  Paid $700 +/- (I can't remember if that included the mount or not)

So, why not the Donut Hole model?
