| Any coupon codes for harbor freight out there? |
|
WHY?!? Harbor Freight is the US's (maybe the world's) largest supplier of useless Chinese CRAP! I'm a plumbing/heating service tech...a PROFESSIONAL...and I would shun, maybe fire (were it in my authority), and A-hole tech who tried to show-up on my jobsite with their tools! |
|
Not everyone needs professional quality tools to work on their stuff at home every now and then. Yes, they're nice, but the reality is that it's not practical to a lot of folks out there. That said, I agree that a lot of the stuff Harbor Freight sells is pretty sketchy, but that's not what the OP asked about, is it? |
Thier tools are good when yours keep getting stolen, let them steal the cheap ones. I got a leaf vac/mulcher from there, it works great, sucked up leaves, sticks, hickorynuts, it finally broke after I used it to suckup shattered glass. I took it back with my extended Warranty. They didnt have it in stock, I got back full purchase price + warranty price, after I had beat the dogshit out of it for a year. I get another from someone else, it costs more and its nowhere near as good. Now Sears wants to charge restock on an item thats still NIW never opened. |
Thanks I am getting the cheap spot welder that I know works for the purpose I intend. I am an electrician and use Klien tools for work. I use snap on/Mac/Matco for my Mechanic work on my motorcycle and truck! Some of you need to take a deep breath, I asked for a coupon code not a lecture!! |
I am an electrician and use Klien tools. Did I say I was looking for work tools? NO I DIDN"T!! What a jerk! |
Where is the computer your typing on made? Your car? I bet I am a more die hard buy american guy than most. I need a spot welder, a cheap spot welder that others have shown workks for what I need it for. Should I spend $1000 for a spot welder to please you? Get over yourself!! I buy Carhart work clothes. My GMC was made in Maryland. My 2000 HD was made in Milwaukee. My 1972 Jimmy was made in USA. My New balance sneakers are assembled in USA. My Red Wing Shoes are Made in USA. So you have anything constructive to add to my thread? |
Get on with You'r bad ass self stud. You are harping up the wrong tree my fri-end, if you have an apprentice with any tools it is up to YOU as a JOURNEYMAN to give the man advice as to the tools to his trade and how to use them. It's not You'r money that is getting the person into the trade. As a journeyman such as yourself YOU are a teacher and an addolescet one at that...... |
NM that HF is a US company itself... So of your dollar spent there, $0,80-0.90 goes to HF And $0.10-0.20 goes to making & shipping the tools in China (MAX) |
Sorry to change the subject, but that truck gives me a hard-on. Do they sell a civie version? |
|
Remember - Opinions are like assholes, everybody has them and they all stink. Don't let the HF naysayers piss you off. Use what you want. There is nothing wrong with Harbor Freight tools as long as you accept that they are bottom of the barrel and not meant for heavy duty use. |
It sounds like you need to point the finger back at yourself if you would fire someone over the quality of their tools. |
|
I like HF for stuff I'll likely only use once or twice. Last month I bought a 3' screwdriver to change out the stock on my M500 for just a couple dollars. HD didn't have it and the local hardware store wanted $12 for their ALSO MADE IN CHINA screwdriver, not spending that for a 1-2 time use tool. |

I don't know whether these will work without the right cookies but what the heck: www.harborfreight22.com/r/r.asp?r=188111218&i=Q2763805H1 www.harborfreight22.com/r/r.asp?r=188111218&i=Q2763805H54 edited to add: now that I think about it, I should have rickrolled you guys. |
Seems alot of items at the hardware store and Harbor Freight seem the same, expect for the price. But if you want to pay more for the same item go ahead, watching people do it pisses me off, but go ahead. |
I have found it indicative, with over 35 years of experience, that a technician that doesn't give a damn about his tools doesn't give a damn about his workmanship. I SHALL NOT have his name on my job! |
Buy a spell checker or a dictionary. |
|
So rather than give a guy a fair shake and judge him on the quality of his work, you are going to judge him on his tools. What if he is an apprentice. Or just had his good tools stolen and couldn't afford to replace them with the same quality? Doesn't matter. Your years of experience tells you he is a crap tech. Sounds to me that you like setting your company up for lawsuits. |
Buts its an Domestic, all parts are from the US and assembled in the US thats unpossible. Also Chevy parts never fail. |

But see, here's the part you're missing. The guy who started this thread never asked about the quality of the tools, how they'd hold up to use in the work environment, or anything like that. He just wanted some coupon codes, maybe to get some stuff to use at home, maybe to buy a cheap one-time-use-only tool, and here you go flying off the handle about what junk they are. |
And here's the part YOU'RE missing: Jump my ass and I'm going to jump back. |
The only reason anyone jumped your ass is because you shit on Thealiens thread from the get go. |
If you hadn't shit on the OP thread, no one would be jumping on you. Lighten up, Francis. |
Get the point boy! |
No, your a technician, and the general public couldn't care less what tools you use. We only care that the jobs gets done. I don't care if my Attorney (A real Professional BTW) uses a Mont Blanc or a Bic so long as the contract gets reviewed. I don't care if my Accountant (A real Professional BTW) uses a PC or an Abacus so long as my books get balanced. So layoff the guy who didn't ask you opinion anyway. Pmc |
You jumped the OP in the Second post about them. Nevermind all he asked for was coupon codes. |
|
Boo freaking hoo, the usual dolts who flunked ECON 101 are out. I've bought a ton of stuff from HF, never had a problem with anything. Shit, I got a digital caliper for $5. Is it the best quality caliper out there? Of course not, it's plastic, but it works, and it was 1/10 the price of other ones out there. Maybe their stuff isn't hardcore enough for the "profeshnulls" out there but it does the job for most people, and for a lot less. |
Exactly I've had more American made professional tools stolen from me than I care to think about, I stopped replacing my tools with American tools and went to cheap china crap. The last bunch of tools I had stolen cost me $1200 which I can not replace, Walmart was a one stop shop for throw away tools if someone steals my stuff again the trade in value is pennies not hundreds of dollars, they get caught its a controlled deuce to the chest. Their chop saws, most of the electronic stuff is ok but I wouldn't spend a whole lot of money on Chicago Electric junk, buy a Rigid or DeWalt or similar instead. I'll gladly pay $400 for a Milwaukee cordless drill from Lowes before spending $159 for one thats similar but not name brand at HF. |
|
If you need a set of cheap tools that you may only use once a year....HF isn't to bad of a deal. Is their stuff cheap crap? YES!! But, if you are elbow deep in a job and need a certain too for a "one time" deal.....you can get it at HF for 1/4 of the cost of anywhere else. If you are not looking for the best of the best...HF will help you out if you get in a jam. |
|
I'm actually going their in the morning to buy a transmission cradle, so its not that bad of a company to deal with. Just use common sense, not all of the cheap tools will last forever. I know a guy who broke a PROTO 3/4" drive breaker bar in 2 pieces, he replaced it with a HF breaker bar instead why??? 1 cost of broken tool and 2 down time on machine was in the millions of dollars, you can buy them for very little and buy more of them. The chop saw i refered to earlier has been used a lot lasted for 1 year before bearings broke, got a sand blaster and its still attic holding floor down. Plastic welder enuff said I use JB Weld now. |
