A shopkeeper has been questioned on suspicion of murder after a would-be robber was fatally stabbed.

Liam Kilroe, 25, from Billinge, near St Helens, Merseyside, was wanted by police when he was killed with his own knife in Skelmersdale on Sunday.

Police believe he was trying to rob Tony Singh, who owns the Lifestyle Express store in the Birleywood area.

The 34-year-old shopkeeper was arrested by detectives but later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Lancashire Police revealed last week that they were looking for Mr Kilroe and urged him to hand himself in.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by Preston Crown Court after he failed to appear to face armed robbery charges.

Police said he was found stabbed in Birleywood Road, Skelmersdale, at about 2100 GMT on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

A post-mortem examination revealed he had died of a single stab wound to the chest.

Did they catch the guy crawling out of the shop with one of the spy cameras? How'd they finger the shopkeeper? My town, he'd have no worry.

That story is poorly written.  It reads as if the robber was wanted by police for killing himself with a knife...WTF ?
