I'm thinking about getting a pair of these. www.lapolicegear.com/511-tactical-tac-lite-pro-pants.html How do they run size wise? In Wranglers I wear a 36 x 34 but in Carhart's 38 x 32 fit me better. This is considering I carry a H&K compact in a Comp-Tac holster. Do 511 pants run long or short? |

I'd say they run average length and width. However, different colors in the same size will fit differently, and probably different sizing between lots as well. I had to order the next size up in shorts as well. Best bet is to buy 2 pairs from LA police gear and get free shipping. If they don't fit, ship them back for free (you WILL be charged shipping for the replacements, however.) If you can buy a pair or two local to try the sizing, all the better. I like the pants, not because they are "tactical"  but because they have a lot of pockets and you can get them pretty cheap on sale/closeout.

Definitely try them on if you can. The have their origins in rock climbing, and as such, they are cut a bit funny. Especially in the hips and crotch. For when you get all the gear (climbing or tactical) on, there is less clothing bunching up. For me, they fit kind of funny, and I even bought mine a couple inches too big to allow for IWB carry. They are also heavy, if you get the cotton canvas model. Very warm in the warmer weather. They are good quality pants, and have tons of pockets. Too bad for me they don't fit me better.

The sizing on 5.11 has been really inconsistent lately with the last few pairs I've bought. They used to run large but lately they've run really small. If they are still using the sizing that they used on my last order expect to buy at least one waist size larger. If you normally wear a36 in normal pants, order a 38. If you wear a 38, order 40. |
