Exactly. There really isn't such a thing as rifle or pistol ammo. The ammo will fire in any firearm chambered for it, be it a pistol or rifle.

9mm and .45 carbines, .223 pistols, etc. all make the count meaningless.

Especially if we are talking about individual rounds purchased. Most commercial ammo isnt purchased in 500 round lots for 15 bucks like .22.

In iowa it would seem Shotshells would outsell handgun ammo as well. Even walmats around here have pallets of shotshells on display.
