So I see this term "Fudd" used a lot around here. I am pretty sure that I understand its meaning from the context it has been used in but would someone like to give me a good clean and short definition of what the forum, in general, means by FUDD? Thanks mcb |

Here it is meant to mean a hunter who thinks evil black rifles & handguns should be banned, won't support all gun rights. I just use it to mean a hunter. I didn't notice the real Elmer Fudd's posistion on EBR's. Sometimes it seemed like his double barrel was full-auto. |
Correct! It is supposed to describe the guy who you meet at the range that has his firearms for hunting purposes only, and is not a big supporter of the 2nd ammendment. Ironically, the few true fudds I meet, would wipe their ass with game regulations, but somehow think your AR15 should be banned.

Can also be applied to "sporting clays" types, or F class shooters. It's generally those who believe that the 2nd Amendment protects hunting/target guns, and that there is no need for non-criminals to own EBR's or HG's, and they would offer those people's guns up to the anti's to keep theirs. |
Actually I have heard that our current Veep owns full-auto toys, even new ones like G36's which most civvies wouldn't be allowed to buy. |
I was referring to Cheney's quail hunt misadventure… |
| A Fudd is someone who owns and uses guns and sees guns as a tool for putting food on the table. They are a group that we should be able to easily recruit into being rabid 2nd Amendment advocates like ourselves. But a vocal portion of Arfcom would rather ridicule them for their low round count and lack of vertical foregrips and rail mounted flashlights. These Arfcommers would also rather spend an entire evening arguing with fanatical anti-gunners in the hopes of winning them over to our side, than take the hour or so it would take to convince the average Fudd that guns are also a means of protection. I believe the animosity stems from an ongoing turf war at the local shooting range, where tacticool Fudd haters are afraid that an old Fudd might laugh at them while they do their combat rolls. |
EBR owning hunter here. That describes a hunter. Please see the (surprisingly consistent) definitions above, of elitist hunters who believe that EBR owners are criminals in training.
Sure... if you believe the 2A applies only to hunting arms, and you're willing to sacrifice EBR's and handguns to keep "Ol Betsy".
Or more precisely call them out for their actions which would readily hand us EBR owners up on platters for the anti's given any threat to bolt actions.
I'll agree that there are more stories of that , but I also can't tell you how many successful elightenments have occurred.
Or, they've been hassled about their "terrorist/criminal gun" once too often, even when abiding by single shot only rules established by the same Fudds. |

EBR owning hunter here.
that
