now im not knocking the deal..   as that deal is GREAT..

my question is WHY a SIG Sauer 9mm in a single stack ?

what was the market for it ?

seems like a waste.. < I havent held one.. so im asking yall >

im still buying one..   hard to pass one up at that price ..  even a single stack 9mm one

The grip can be thinner which is a big deal for people with small hands, expecially wimmenz.

If you need more then 8 rounds you need more training!

I like slimmer grips.

I also don't feel that I need that many rounds (7-10). Aside from my Hi-Powers, I no longer have any "high capacity" handguns.

I also use revolvers quite frequently. I am also not worried about the low round count there.

The single-stack SIG's were around before the double-stacks were.  That's why the single-stacks are so cheap; they're older.  I think they still represent a great value, however.  Weapons using single-stack mags tend to have thinner grips and single-stack magazines tend to be more reliable (less prone to jamming).

I prefer single stack for carrying IWB.

More reliable feed as well.

I seem to recall you liked my P225 when you shot it at the range.

I agree that in this case it applies to what was made first but these days I immediately start thinking about how some states have laws about what civilians can own or the decade of the ban.

I'm looking for at single stacks b/c I want something thin to carry IWB and I don't plan on John Woo directing the shoot out if I'm ever in one

Why single stack mags?  Because the .45 ACP is fundamentally flawed in that it's too fat to be comfortably double-stacked in a magazine which is meant to fit in the grip.  Since then, single stack has been popular.  Why?  Who knows?

is there a site on the 'net where I can go and script a "low capacity gunfight" for myself?

so do ya'll carry an extra single stack mag?

Why not?  You're bound to hit the enemy if you can fire 40,000 rounds of ammunition in one church scene.

+1. It's easier to conceal a single stack than a hi-cap one.

Besides it's worked for the 1911 for quite awhile....

A thin gun is good for CCW.  What is the width of the Sigs that are on sale?

Its for the European police market... they see no need for hicap mags.

Single stack handguns are:

  • Generally easier to grip for people with small hands

  • Generally easier to conceal

  • Generally feed more reliably than doublestack designs.

If you mean the P225, people who wanted a compact and concealable 9mm handgun. The P239 works good too.

Centerfire Systems has P225's for $269.99.  They're older guns made in West Germany.  They're on backorder with an expected ship date of February 15th.  Most likely, the other online retailers have them as well.

AIM Surplus has the same deal for $10 cheaper:
