[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Tim Hortons? (Page 1 of 2)

| When I was in Michigan this past weekend I saw a lot of these in the Detroit metro area. I know it's Canada's answer to Dunkin Donuts but are they any good? I'm going back in the summer to Detroit so I might try them then. |
|
I use to work at a company that made a liquid coffee mix for Tim Hortons. Can't remember what the mix was used for, but we made it in batches between 2,000 to 12,000 gallons at a time. The mix came off the line warm and had a sickly God awful smell. Like taking warm day old coffee and mixing in anti-freeze.
|
Huh? I see them each morning making the coffee fresh from coffee grounds. Please explain. Are you talking about the flavor mixes? |
i am not talking about the hot brewed coffee, this was a liquid flavor mix. It was several years back so my memory isn't that clear. I did a look thru Tim Hortons website and jogged my brain. The mix was used in the Iced Cappuccino. |
Gotcha. I worked at a spaghetti sauce factory for a summer in college. I can't stand the smell of that particular sauce anymore so I know what you are talking about. |
Yep, Tim's is a franchise operation with tight control. They have "Guaranteed 20min fresh" coffee, which isn't always the case, good help being hard to find and all... but when the coffee is spot on and fresh, it's really like liquid crack. If you don't like your cup, just ask em to re-do it. Tims is everywhere in WNY, and like the guy above said, often times during the day the lines for the drive thru, as well as indoors, are just insane. I hit the place just about everytime I go out, but I'm a coffee addict, and was before they got big here. They just do it really good, and get most all of my business. Dunkin' Donuts sucks bad, by comparison. And their lack of business backs my statement fully. |
Mr Donut sux.Krispys are the bomb-diggity.Of the three DD has best coffee. Hortons coffee is OK...........bout like McDonalds IMO. Now if Starbucks would start selling Krispy Kreme donuts............ Dang Id double my already fat ass!!! |
I made the mistake of buying a KK gift card from a coworker. 10 dozen free. Every time you buy a dozen , you get dozen plain glazed. Up to 10 dozen. The frigging place is close by too. All hot and melty. Dissolve like cotton candy goodness. I feel like going there in the AM now. |

Tim Horton was a very good NHL defenseman. I saw him play often when I was growing up in Toronto. When I was a kid you could get into Maple Leaf Gardens for a dollar - standing room only. ETA .. Tim Horton was related to the BUSH family! LINKY |
I've got a junky old house, but with lots of acreage, about 15 minutes from there in Hope. |
| Coffee is too bitter for me, reminds me of Starbucks. The lids on their to-go cups are also annoyingly cheap. They do have good cinammon rolls. My opinion does seem to be in the minority though - the drive throughs are usually backed up into the parking lot whenever I go by one. |

Timmy Ho's == Candian invasion Prices are cheaper than $tarbuck$. Coffee is ok. Breakfast Sammiches are better than McD's (excluding the Mc Griddles) Saturday mornings I usually get two everything bagels, toasted and buttered and a regular coffee with sugar and cream. Sometimes two blue berry muffins instead. |

I love TIm Horton Coffee. Problem. They do not have any in Georgia. You people that have Tim Horton in your states. Start your own Ebay Time Horton Coffee store right now. Make your wife do it, someone do it today please. I order my Tim Horton Coffee off Ebay. Some Enterprising Canadians sell the large 39oz tins of coffee and I buy 6 at a time. They charge so much for shipping it's a rip off. Guess what? They do good business and not one single American sells the stuff. Do you want to make extra money today? Go to your local Tim Horton, find out how much the large coffee tins sell for in the store, next find out how much shipping costs you, post item to Ebay. Watch yourself put the Canadian Ebay Tim Horton dealers out of business overnight. The amount of money I spend on the coffee is crazy, and only because not a single American will sell it. Wake up Americans, sell that fucking coffee, I hate getting raped by the Canadian shipping prices and dollar exchange rate. |
The invasion in NW Ohio has begun, as well. And I for one, welcome our new Canadian coffee and donut overlords. It's good shit, Maynard. |

Tim Horton's sells coffee that I think is the best mass produced coffee I have ever had. And, I tried it because someone else told me the same thing. A third guy, whom I work with, married a girl from Toronto and when he goes there he can't wait to go to Tim Horton's: he says he goes there every day he is there and brings back several cans of coffee home. When I am visiting Ohio (3-6 weeks a year) I always buy a can of Tim Horton's coffee and if I think about it, but another to take one home. Unlike most coffee you buy in the can at the grocery store, I can clearly tell the difference between Tim Horton's and something like Maxwell House. FWIW: I don't care for freshly ground coffee, exotic beans, or plain coffee at Starbucks. If you put cream and sugar in any of those coffees they are good, but black they are bitter and overpowering. So, I prefer canned coffee like Tim Horton's or Folgers 100% Columbian. That being said, I go to Starbucks and get stuff other than plain coffee all the time. I like my caffine. The donuts are nothing to write home about IMO. I definitely like Krispy Kreme better. However, there is a donut called a Maple Bar and they make the same thing with Chocolate that are filled with creme in the east, whereas, in the west they arn't. This is a big plus for Tim Horton's over KK. |
