Just added two more to the collection.

Sweet!

Those Uberti 1873s look sweeter and sweeter every day...

[#2]
very cool

I need to get myself some lever guns.

[#3]
I'd love another lever rifle...

.44mag, 16" barrel, pistolgrip buttstock, side eject... that feels SOLID.

I had a Marlin 336 in .30-30, and it was a nice solid gun.  Later I had a Winchester 94 Ranger 16" in .357, and though it was neat, it felt sloppy and loose...

Lever guns are cool.

My ideal lever gun is the Winchester 1895.  Those things are just beautiful.

[#5]
oh man i got it too i just havent bought one yet.  im  thinking im going to get somthing cheap to shoot like a 357 mag.
1/16/2008 4:11:31 PM EDT
[#6]
I love the lever guns too. Nice collection.

I just bought this Marlin model 1893 made in 1904...

[#7]
I've been kicking around the idea of a .357 to go with my Marlin 336 (.30-30).  That and a Ruger GP100 .357 together would be a neat bug out package.
1/16/2008 4:17:32 PM EDT
[#8]
I have a 1894P in 44 Mag. and think it is the bee knees.
1/16/2008 4:58:04 PM EDT
[#9]
I have a Marlin 1894S in .44Mag.  It goes great with my Redhawk.

I have several different lever rifles, and get as much if not more shooting enjoyment and time than my AR's. Cheap to reload. Very durable. Classic look and feel. MY favorite is a 336 in .357, loaded with  38Secial 160LRN's made from tire weights. Used brass, a primer, and some powder....mmmm.....$0.04 per shot....
1/16/2008 7:43:10 PM EDT
[#12]
What's funny, is I do not own a single single action revolver.
1/16/2008 7:47:35 PM EDT
[#13]
Damn, this just furthers my itch for a lever gun in 45/70.  I don't know why I want one, but damn, I want one!

[#14]
Dang it guys.

I want a .45-70 now.
1/16/2008 7:49:43 PM EDT

Do you guys think I should ditch the Tasco and Bushnell optics that came on the two new rifles and get something better?

Or just stick with what I have?

Check the EE.

By the way, there have been talks of a Special run Marlin 1895. (Full length mag tubes, on a Guide Gun, Laminate Stocks)

I could do with out the pistol grip laminate, but would be neat to see the guide gun come factory with a higher capacity.

Marlin 336 in .30-30, Marlin 39A "Golden" in .22LR, and a Winchester 94 in .32 Special.

Poor_Man - go with what you're comfortable with as far as sights. Best advice, I think.
The .30-30 and .32 Special both have Williams peep sights, the .22LR has a scope.

The .30-30 originally came with an expensive scope & mount (too nice and way too much
optics for a brush gun) which I took off as soon as I bought it.

[#27]
I want a 45/70, damn it.

The only lever gun I've got is a Norinco 1887 shotgun that I haven't had a chance to shoot yet...

I am a huge fan of irons on a lever gun. Here are the sights I have on both my 39A and my 1894CB. Clay pidgeons at 100yds are not much of a problem.

Lyman 17a globe front sight with an aperture insert by Lee Shaver. The L.S. insert card comes with several posts, crosshairs, and apertures.

Williams FP39-TM rear sight* The TM sight for the 39A mounts in the FRONT scope mount hole, not the rear (as even Williams tells people )

Do it! There's nothing like launching a wrecking ball downrange at a 5 gallon water container to relieve a little tension.

That's nice!

I bet a big lewie in stainless would be awesome.

If I had the money, I would keep Yost and Bonitz very busy between my lever guns, 1911s, and BHP.

From my expierence.

Winchesters have a smoother action, nice trigger pull, great looking stocks.

Marlins have a side ejection port making feeding, extraction and cycling much better, not to mention mounting optics easier.

I'm just guessing here, But I suspect the Marlin is capable of hotter loads.

As far as those lever guns with one piece stocks.....

I guess I will let cosmetics get in the way of so called performance.

The only lever I own now is this, .308 BLR, sweet rifle. Not my gun, the best pic I could find.

I used to have a 336 30-30, but it was lost to an x-friend with a coke habit.

It's a little rough, but it seems very solid & well-made.

I'm not even sure if it's worth trying to take a pic of it with my MacBook built-in camera...

(Only digital camera I have...)

Was T2 your inspiration for it? Sure made me want one.

I guess I should add my mandatory motivational .45/70 poster.

I suspected so,

Interesting how the action works on those, Similar to what I have on a an old Spencer Pump action.

I bet the action will smooth out over time, My 1895GS was horrible when I first got it, being stainless probably didn't help.

100 rounds later and lots of playing with it, has made it nice and smooth.

I bought a Puma 16" .357 magnum lever gun last month. Also got some Buffalo Bore 158gr Gold Dot ammo for it. They'll break the 2000fps mark out of my Puma.
