When I bought my furniture six months ago I bought the protection plan which I normally don't buy. Our cat made a fist full of pin holes in the leather couch so now they are coming to fix it. Do I tip the technichian? I can't keep track of who and how much to tip anymore. |
My friend does that kind of work, he says its not common, but normally if someone does they get priority service and quicker response to those middle of the night or weekend issues when he is oncall. now if you dumped grease down the drain or messed up something due to your own fault then tip them, will probaly save you a service call charge |
As far as I know, it's not customary to do so. Tip a waitress, valet, caddy, etc. Tip the plumber..? Nope. He'll tip himself when he writes the bill. If it's a big job like a new roof, deck, etc. Buy the guys lunch or some beers. |
I think he means the person who works for the complex full time fixing things |

I have no rules for tipping. If I like the guy, he is pleasant, and does an above the line job, he generally gets a tip. For instance, I have tipped a cable guy $20 because he spent longer at my house then normal (had to drill some holes and run new wire, etc.). But, others have done the same and I said fuck it, no tip. The older I get, the less I tip. No one tips me for doing my job. |

Here's a tip. Get your cat declawed or it's not going to be the last time you are meeting this guy I am a good tipper when it's warranted. A factory furniture repairman tech would have to impress the hell out of me before I was even tempted to reach into hip national bank for a tip. You did pay a 'premium' already for this insurance / extended warranty correct ? There's your 1st clue. |
