I just ordered a Maxpedtion Remora Gearslinger bag. Seems pretty nice. I have read a lot of good reviews here on ARFCOM about Maxpedtion, but none about the Remora. Does anyone have one? I looked at similar bags and this one seems to be the best for me. I like the ambidextrous nature of it. I'm a Righty so I can carry it weak side if I am using it as a backup CCW holder or strong side if its carrying my primary CCW. I keep telling myself I am going to start running and get my lungs in shape, so I hope this will work out as a jogging bag as well. My wife calls my armrest/glove-box my "Purse" anyway, so I guess I might as well get an official Man Purse.

I don't have one, but it looks interesting enough and from my Fatboy and every other piece of Maxpedition gear I've seen, I'm sure the quality is just as good.

It looks like it would make a nice small hike pack, but I think I'd still prefer a small backpack with hydration pack like I have for that now though.

Too close to being an actual, functional day pack for me.
The fatboy, to me, is as much "man purse" as I'll ever need...and i love mine.

How about the COLOSSUS VERSIPACK?

Is that big enough for CCW?

I know my fatboy is.

This one sounds way manlier. You should probably get it instead

Same here. No fewer than 4 other people have decided to get one after seeing mine.

Yes it is.. the back pocket is essentially a CCW holster.

and to put into scale:

I don't want something too big. I don't have that much stuff to carry. I just want something I can throw over my shoulder if I am on my motorcycle and living in FL I don't wear too heavy clothing, so something to help out my CCW if I am wearing just a T-shirt.

The Colossus was reviewed positively on Military Morons as a daily use motorcycle bag. The issue I have with the back mounted versipacks is that the ccw pocket is one your back as opposed to your hip. Just my $.02.

i have a versipak and a thermite and they are both great.

I appreciate your $.02. Maybe I will get one of the Colossus bags as well. But, it just seems well..... COLOSSUS. Seems to me like it would restrict your strong side by the way it sits and the size of it. I think if I am using the Remora as a main CCW holster, i.e. jogging or whatever, I would carry it with the bag across my chest and not my back.

FWIW, I carry a near GHB in my Versipack, and that's with the main compartment EMPTY. I always thought the Colossus was, well....... too colossal.

I'd probably use it as a discreet overnight bag.

I'm with you on that. I've hesitated on the colossus for the same reason. I think it looks bigger on the pic I posted because of the chap who is demonstrating it. To clear that up I added more detail to the pic I previously posted and am posting it again here:

I'm 6ft 250lbs so I'm guessing that the Colossus might no be too bad.

Of course, there's always the Manta. The plateform size of the Colossus but blank slate for you to add whatever you want.

I looked at the Manta, but figured that by the time you add the various accessories to get it similar to the one in the picture that it would get pretty expensive.

I've been carrying the Fatboy when I walk to and from work.  It holds da Glock 23 when I'm at work.  When I walk I have the Glock on my hip though.  I bought this thing to hold photography stuff E.G. lenses, memory cards, batteries, etc.  But now I carry it alot more than just when I'm shooting the camera.

Hanging on my office door at work.

As of this morning, the Manta is on sale at Maxpediton for $40!

I've been thinking about the Fatboy for CCW and after seeing the picture of it hanging on the door, I think it's the way to go.

I like the new wider buckle and the extra pouch on top. Mine is one of the originals, with the sewn-on pouch to one side, the plain flap, and the narrower strap.

Oh, well.

Anyone think a Colossus would work for a laptop bag?

ETA: never mind just saw the internal size specs.... won't work.

I got the Remora today. Pretty nice. A little on the small side, but that is what I wanted. Right now I have my USP40f in the rear compartment, my H&K P2000SK (inside a Comp Tac Infidel) in the large front compartment and my Taurus 605 (2" .357) in the very front, along with a mag for each H&K. No, I normally do not carry that many forearms, just wanted to test out the bag.

I think for anyone wanting a Maxpedition bag on the smaller side, this is it. I may 1 or 2 additional small bags in the future, but it is fine w/o them.
