Long story short; my son got a video iPod for Christmas and it will play MPEG4 movies. I used ULEAD to compress a movie for him and it played well, but the damn program is SO SLLOOWW it took all night to compress a single movie to the iPod format (I'm running a Conroe Dual Core with a Raptor HD, so CPU speed is not the issue.) Anyway, is there another program like RipIt4Me/DVDShrink that will compress video for iPods? Can DVDShrink be used for iPods? Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

I use handbreak. Very easy to use and customize. Don't pay fro quicktime get handbreak for free. handbrake.fr/?article=documentation |
+1 Use the preset for iPod/iPhone; it's perfect. It does take a couple hours to compress the video, though. |
+1 for handbrake, takes about 10min on my quad xeon. I hesitate posting that b/c I don't want this to turn into a pissing match just that it's good software. My older athlon machine would take about 1.5 hours and my old dual g4 mac would be about an hour. -JTP |
