Our dryer is a couple years old and drys well but lately it will cut off in the middle of drying. All I have to do is push the start button again and it starts back up, but sometimes I think its done drying and it didn't actually finish. Any thoughts?

Turn off the auto dry cycle and use the timed cycle.

We always use the timed dry.

Could be dirty, I think there's an overtemp switch near the heating element.

ETA restricted vent flap/tube would heat it up too.

Are you sure the drum is rotating? My dryer belt broke but you could still hear it blowing air. It would only partially dry the clothes.

Pull off the lower front panel on your dryer and turn it on. You might be able to spot the problem. Maybe your belt is slipping.

It could be the cut-off switch maybe failing on you.  It's the switch that's located just inside the dryer door.
Another could be the timer itself may also be failing.  Is the problem only isolated in just one particular dry cycle or the whole gammut?

It runs good, blows hot air, tumbles the clothes, drys the clothes, and the timer works. It just stops and I have to push the button again. The timer keeps running when it is stopped.

Try a different cycle on the timer, like delicate or heavy duty.  If that works it's the timer.
