Well I signed up this morning for a CCW class at the New Albany Shooting Range, classes begin in two weeks, it's a 12-hour course with range time and a 25-question test, unfortunately that is the Ohio law.

I pretty excited to finally have a CHL soon!

I think I'll be getting a CO permit even though I have a FL resident permit.

I have a newb question...

I was with my uncle today and he said he had a CCW and it only cost him 10 dollars - no training course. Is this course you are talking about optional or am I blessed to live in a state that does not require any kind of course and test in order to obtain a license?

The course in AZ is required, along with $60 and fingerprints. You are probably just lucky.

I just took the class here yesterday.  8 hours and range qualification.  The written test was easy, basics about firearms and CCW law.  During the class the instructor went over everything about CCW.  I thought for the most part it was worth my time just to learn all the state laws.  Since every state is different it is good to know exactly what your state requires.  No fingerprints needed for the class.

The range qualification was 25 rounds at 3, 7, and 10 yards.

Mine was boring as hell. I took it at Gander Mtn. by Ohio CCW. Not a great class.

Well I finished my certifications for my CCW, I will be getting my CHL this week! The 25 question test was easy, got a 100%, and the pistol test was at 15 and 25 feet.

The 12 hour course actually was pretty quick, spread out over 2 days, only shot about 50 rounds of ammo on a 9mm, 357mag and .45. Got to shoot a Kimber 1911 .45

Did all this at New Albany, surprisingly the instructor/owner Rich was very good, kept it interesting and funny!

8 hours here, 4 class, 4 range.

Didn't take that long though.

Took mine from a family that was a little strange...........straight out of Steven King's mind

Instructor was an ex glock instructor that had been shot to many times and could hardly walk.

The mother was in a wheel chair, long stringy hair with the crazy left eye looking who knows where.

Uncle standing in the back of the room guarding the masses.

I could just imagine the brother that didn't show up was out back grinding up the last trespasser for breakfast sausage.

But I did pass and learned a few things
