Use the right tool for the job. 1. Home defense - Remington 870, pistol grip, Surefire on the barrel, pressure switch on the foregrip 2. plinker - 223. Or 7.62X39 in any Communist Bloc SKS/AK variant 3. varmint/small - 22LR 4. 6mm in a custom, Mauser action rifle - this is for keeps. RE #4 - 223 62gr FMJ will not penetrate 1/2" mild steel. Neither will 7.62X39 FMJ. Even some 30-06 won't. 6mm 100gr softpoints WILL. -grommet |
OK. I'm just curious why you would want to do this... There are so many other really good guns out there. The AR does what it does pretty well, but others are much better suited to specific tasks. |
Get a 16" flat top upper in .223. Get a 20" to 24" upper in .223. Get any other upper you want in 16" to 20" (9mm, .45acp 6.8, .243WSSM etc...) That should cover home defense/fun/varmints/deer Varmints/fun/deer/hogs fun/deer/hogs/home defense |
