In the lower right corner of the last post that says "locked for "x" reason", the name of the mod is listed. Just shoot them an IM & take it from there.

I strongly urge politeness when asking, FWIW.

No politeness is over rated.
Call the Moderator names and DEMAND that the thread be unlocked immediately.
Throw in some stuff about "freedom of speech" and stuff, that usually works well.

Yup, they think they're hot stuff, but if you go right after them and put them on the defensive, they back down right away. I heard they even give out a free membership out of it if you make 'em cry.

The last line of the thread reads:

"SYSTEM MESSAGE

72-hour BTT violation at 12/10/2007 7:52:25 PM EST. Please read the EE rules. Thanks.

it was locked by m4maddnes.

ee ads don't get unlocked when there are rule violations.

read the rules and repost

BTT violations get unlocked, if requested by the OP, after the 72 hours has passed.  Anyone can unlock them.  I confirmed this some time ago with the EE folks.

Edit:  To the OP--it's unlocked, so feel free to bump it to the top.  PLEASE read the rules so you know how to avoid a repeat.  Basically, you can't post in the thread until 72 hours has passed from the LAST POST (regardless of who posted last).  You can answer questions via IM or e-mail, or by editing the answer into your initial post (if it is a general interest question).

We've all been through it.  It takes a while to get up to speed on all the complexities of such things.

Welcome to the site, BTW.
