Was George really the main character?  Many shows revolved around him and he had some of the best one-liners on TV.

What is the name of the show?

It didn't take long before the writers/creators of the show realized Jason Alexander's character was the star of the show.

"C'mon, Jerry. You know I always wanted to pretend to be an architect."

Everything ultimately revolved around Jerry and his apartment.

No, but George was based off of Larry David.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is funny as hell .

Larry David (also known from the HBO show "Curb Your Enthusiasm") was one of the co-creators and writers on the show, George's character was based on him, and a lot of the things that George did were drawn from things that had happened in his life.

Jerry had some very funny scenes however I still think that George was #1 on the show...

All of the characters on the show could act, whereas Jerry was a pure stand-up comic who was marginally acting in his own show. Much to his benefit, it seemed he was more than willing to step aside in most scenes and let the rest of the cast carry the show, and Alexander more than the rest.

That's just the way I saw the show too. Jerry really wasn't all that funny and if it weren't for the supporting cast the show would have flopped.

Seinfeld was just the glue that held all the other character's stories together. That show was hands-down the BEST sitcom ever.

Does that mean Larry David got caught rubbing one out by his mother?  Ouch.

Probably, but then Larry David seems like the type who enjoys rubbing one off in front of his mother. That assclown acts like he was toilet trained at gunpoint.

Seinfeld was mainly about Jerry and George aka Larry David on their path to getting their own TV sitcom. But if you watch "Curb your Enthusiasm" the George character is a little over the top compared to the real Larry David but they are both "lovable" jerks. Larry is realy more of a Shleprock that has a constant rain cloud hanging over his head rather than a highly animated screaming manic depressive.

I can't stop laughing at the Seinfeld episode where they are casting for Jerry's NBC pilot and Jeremy Piven comes in to read for the George character. The first thing that he says is "So, this guy is a total loser right?" and George Costanza gets all pissed off, "NOOOOOOO!!!" I can only imagine that it was really Jason Alexander that said that during rehearsals.

Jerry Seinfield was just a revamped attempt to do what Bob Newhart had already done many times over.

Larry David is a political douche, but a comedic genius. CYE is by far, IMHO, the funniest show ever. Of course it isn't as mainstream as Seinfeld on HBO and with all the cursing but some of the stuff Larry comes up with is beyond funny.

Similiar, but not really close, IMO. Seinfield pushed the comedy boundries MUCH better than Newhart ever thought about or could, IMO.

For example, can you imagine Newhart's shows doing any of the following:

1) Master of your domain.

2) I'm not gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

3) I've "yadda yadda yadda'd" sex before.

I was talking about playing the straight man.

Newhart was also sharp enough to not have to do dick jokes to get a laugh.

Larry's ex-wife is a douche, but all in all I don't think Larry is that far out.  He's left, but IMO most of his leftist BS came from his cunt of a wife.

The show happened because of, and centered around Jerry. George was the main character. Kramer was the comic relief. And Elaine had the tits.
