Reading the "I just called 911" thread got me to thinking. Some kind of network here where we could assist each other in a time of need might not be a bad idea. I know if someone here put out a call for help in the DFW, TX area I would load the truck and head on out to help. Whatever it may be, a busted whatever? I have tools and can fix a lot of shit. You are one of the ARF.com ladies gettin hassled by a jerk? I'll come a runnin. Whatever it is I have always been a "help your neighbors" kind of guy. We are a community here. What do ya'll think? |

A few years ago ARFcom General Discussion nearly saved my ass off a stormy mountain. I was going over a pass in WA, and it started to snow. I would have been fine if the assholes on the road didnt come to a complete stop and block the highway for hours, meanwhile the snow is stacking up, got up to a few feet. And thus my car was stuck on a 15 degree angle. No way in hell I was going anywhere in a RWD car. My cell wasnt getting reception, but it would get 1 bar for about 5 seconds then it would go away for about 30min. So, I typed up a message on my pda/phone stating the condition I was in and hit enter and the message burst away. Luckily, a tow truck pulled me to the top I was able to get out of there in one piece. I was on the mountain for 10 hours idling my engine, lol. Anyways, when I got home and read the thread that I made. It had several replies from people in the area that offered to come and get me. It was pretty cool to have that kind of backup. We could set up a permanent compound where arfcommers could hold conventions, complete with recreational facilities so arcom families could vacation there too. It could be a Mecca for arfcom. I know where we could buy some land cheap near Waco TX. I here there's a bus buried there... |

Who knows what can happen, you and your wife live in Indiana somewhere and your wifes single college friend lives in Oklahoma and calls your wife scarred to death and in a bad situation? You may be able to get her some help from a member here that lives in the same city or nearby. I always look out for my friends and will crawl outta bed and come runnin when they are in need. |
