LT's other thread got me thinking;

I was originally registered WAY back, I think in 1999, two ARFCOM revisions back. If I'm not mistaken, on the first iteration.

Is there anyway to find out when I FIRST registered with previous versions of the site?

I think it's cool to check out the join # of the '00 club.

Thanks to all the long timers that kept the board going.

That's what I remember.  I moved back to the U.S. in November 1997 and remember the list.  I still have one of the old hats with the red crosshairs somewhere.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I started lurking here in '00.  I've definitely gained a wealth of information (useful and some not-so-useful) over the years.

Ar15.com was the first thing I typed into the bar when I got online, just to see what would pop up. Had never heard of the site.

About a year later I stumbled across the forums, these were the first I had ever seen but didn't register for a long time.

Yes I was a slow starter on the internets & still a huge lurker

So I've been here, I don't know 3 or 4 years actively.

Lurked since 1998 or so.

Registered in spring of 2000 when I bought my AR, was seeking info and found this site.

Then lost it all due to board update or whatever, and signed up again in Nov. 2000.

I checked, but didn't find it.

To paraphrase from the old thread:

Go to:

www.archive.org/web/web.php

In the search box, enter:

www.forums.ar15.com/cgi/ubbmisc.cgi?action=getbio&UserName=XXXXXXX

Replace the X's at the end with your old screen name. Capitalization and punctuation counts.

You may find that your old posts are cached, but your profile isn't.

There are just over 11,000 pages you can access from the old board from one search I ran:

web.archive.org/web/*sr_1nr_20000/http://forums.ar15.com/*

If you don't remember your exact screen name, and you're a glutton for punishment, you can dig through the pages at each link and look for one of your old posts.

I read an article article in SGN on arfcom in either 98 or 99 and spent some time lurking and tried to join the old board but I sucked at the interweb back then and couldnt get it to take

I was going to use the handle 556_blaster, I wonder how my life would have been different had I used that name.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, cause Iwas here since at least 99' if not longer, and I'm nowhere near being in that list.

I was running searches for my profle on FalFiles too, I know for a fact I was a member over there back in 96/97, and I cant find squat.

I joined (under another name which I can't remember) in 2000, wasn't very active.  Got jumped by ammoman about something (posted a photo of my cat after a bath), quit posting and just lurked for a long time.

I registered this account just to browse back when you had to be logged in to browse during periods of high traffic.
