So, best show of the 80's, or best show of the 80's? Amirite? In The Air Tonight Crockett's Theme Devo Scene |
|
Nash Bridges was a pretty good series too. In two episodes, the actor who plays Tubbs guest starred, once as a good guy and once as a bad guy. In both episodes, when he and Don Johnson (Sonny Crockett, Nash Bridges) are on screen together, the Miami Vice theme plays in the background. I thought that was a pretty cool touch. ETA: Michael Mann did Miami Vice and Heat; so far as Arfcom is concerned, he is the ultimate authority for putting cops on film. |
If I had a time machine, I'd go back to Christmas, 1979. And never leave again. ![]() All I'd need to do is get a fake identity (I could hire a Mexican to do that! ) and keep an eye on economics. Nothing so cliche as knowing what the stock market will do and get rich off of it; too easy to get nailed for inside trading (despite not doing it.). I'd just know enough to live comfortably and enjoy the greatest decade of the 20th century.Besides, you think a Bren Ten was hard to get in the 80's, you should see the prices now!

You have never lived until you have been in the back of a panel van, with a bunch of heavily armed mutherfuckers, playing "In the Air Tonight"... ETA: Crockett was the man in the 80s I lived in Miami when they were filming MV. Great show. My house was a few blks away from the great "FBI shoot out of 1986". |

Loved the show back then but really only watched to see what was the weapon of the week. Smugglers Blues was the first time I had ever seen an AR with a beta mag. Unfortunately too many folks in Washington at the time couldn't separate fact from fiction and used the show as a primer for gun control. In the long run it hurt us more than we know.

Blasphemy |
To each their own. I like it, never had it loaded up in the CD player ready to go...but I won't shut it off if it comes on Sirius. |

Hey check out Rick Bravo web site for some really good background info on the show. http://www.miami-vice.org/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=28 http://www.rbravo.com/miami_vice.htm not having much luck making these sites active. Appreciate if someone could help us out. Thanks There is a lot of info on the show from a few other web sites.Do a search, Enjoy |

One of my favorites. Unfortunately, the show was labeled as too violent by the PC crowd, but many of the anti-gunners learned their weapons handling from this show. Remember the show of Don J with the gun held up vertically with the muzzle up next his face. So, after that I see many "weapons experts" holding their gun similarly.

Yep. Notice now that the AWB is over, Miami politicians are now spouting that their town is overrun by bad guys with machine guns ( ) and they always give examples like they were reading the script from Miami Vice."Bad guy shoots Tec-9 from the hip; the car explodes when hit."
|
Miami Vice and Magnum, P.I. were the best shows of the eighties. |

have you guys been able to find an MV scene, set to Robert Plant's "Little by Little"(*), wherein this (hot) woman kills her lover/father on a boat? "go on -- you kill your own flesh and blood!" ar-jedi ps: i was in high school when MV was on -- and i never missed an episode. i just discovered my wife (same age) has never seen an episode of MV. what should i do now? I can't believe no one has mentioned the best draw-and-shoot scene EVER on TV... Start watching at 1:40 The actor REALLY knows how to use a gun. He was in on the early days of IPSC. OOPS, forgot link: youtube.com/watch?v=lsUaMoyKm40 |
Yeah, the assassin was badass. That's Jim Zubiena. He's a friend of mine and a member of my gun club. He's a pretty good skeet shooter too. Here's a shorter version of the same clip: youtube.com/watch?v=lOaGg1nXhgg |
