Post pics of weapons, vehicles, and equipment either just coming into service, slated for near future use, or experimental stuff still on the drawing board.  This could be really cool.

MQ-9 Reaper.  Even five or six years ago I would have thought drone attack aircraft were just concepts.  Now they are getting kills overseas. From this thread.

F-35 Joint Strike Fighter

XM307 Objective Crew Served Weapon

Crusader 155mm Self Propelled Artillery.  The last info I heard was this project was cancelled.

RAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter.  Program cancelled in 2004 after 20 years of development.

Post your own pics.  If it is something unusual, post a description or link.

Dragonfire 120mm Heavy Mortar. Remotely Computer Controlled. Still under development.

M777 Howitzer. Being fielded by the USMC and just starting to see action with them. My best friend is fire control for one of these bad boys. Can fire the new GPS guided Excalibur round which I hear is badass.

XM2001 Crusader. Self propelled Howitzer. Killed by Rummy in '02 budget cut.

XM8 Buford.  Another cancelled program.  This was a light tank with a three man crew.  Designed for airborne operations, it could be transported by a C-130.  I have read somewhere that the four prototypes made it over to Iraq with the 82nd ABN DIV, and served in combat.  Not sure how accurate that info is, though.

I believe it was a combination of way too much money invested (dumb move to just throw it all away, however), far too long in creation, and the lack of foresight of some people who think we are only going to be fighting insurgents for the rest of eternity.

IIRC, the deployment was canceled due to concerns that a successful deployment might put doubts on the Stryker program, especially the MGS.  Totally piss poor priorities there IMO.  The XM8 should have been adopted and been the replacement for the M-551 Sheridan in the 82nd.  The 173rd should have some too.

Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response (PHaSR)

The Personnel Halting and Stimulation Response (PHaSR) is a rifle-sized laser weapon system that uses two non-lethal laser wavelengths to deter, prevent, or mitigate an adversary’s effectiveness. The laser light generated by this weapon illuminates or “dazzles” aggressors, temporarily impairing individuals and their ability to see the laser source.
