I believe it was a combination of way too much money invested (dumb move to just throw it all away, however), far too long in creation, and the lack of foresight of some people who think we are only going to be fighting insurgents for the rest of eternity. |

IIRC, the deployment was canceled due to concerns that a successful deployment might put doubts on the Stryker program, especially the MGS. Totally piss poor priorities there IMO. The XM8 should have been adopted and been the replacement for the M-551 Sheridan in the 82nd. The 173rd should have some too. -K |
