Come quite a long way to suck so damn hard. No one ever mentions the old bands. Some of my old favorites, Ignite - Embrace (late 90's emo-core stuff) Fugazi - Waiting Room (Used to be Minor Threat. May be some old punks lurking around that remember that name. Started the straight-edge movement in D.C., coined the term "emo". Kinda faded into obscurity in the middle 90's. This footage is around 1991. They're more for uniting and having fun than complaining.) Atom & His Package - Punk Rock Academy (A dude, a mike, and a synth. He's a dork from hell, but it's catchy.) Blink 182 - Adam's Song (These guys even took a decent stab at it. I know someone remembers them. They nailed the emotional part. Sad shit. Especially at 1:50 into the song.) Not sure what these whine factories are pushing out these days. It just doesn't do the "emo" genre any justice. Of course, when overly EMOtional suburban brats have a say, anything goes to hell... My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (Alright brother, you're not okay. We get it...and lay off the make-up.) Now, emo kids are whole different discussion. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Posting up to your handle, I see. |

FUCK EMO!! Blinks "Adams Song" is one of the best songs ever. ![]() I'll admit to liking SOME of those types of songs, but the whole culture and attitude, and everything else- I despise. I want to punch emo kids. But of course, I'm the kind of guy that they despise too, since I have conformed to the style that they hate. Lol, they hate my conformity while all looking the same. ![]()

I always considered The Cure to be the original Emo. Boys Don't Cry was released in the late 70s. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQhh4Xs8RcM - BG |

Fuck Emo. Fugazi sucked ass, and Ian McKay is a hipocrate. I witnessed him smoke pot outside a Fugazi show. ![]() The Descendants are the only acceptable Emo band. The Cure Emo? Not hardly. "Art Fag" sure, good definitely, but Emo? No fuckin way. ![]() Emo was invented because the posers working at the record store were so tired of getting beatin up at Punk shows. |
Minor Threat/Fugazi are two of my all time favorite bands. The "emo" of today in no way compares to those guys. Their newer stuff is really good, too. Check out the album The Arguement. |
+1 Im from the DC metro area and went to many Fugazi shows in my teens. And to clarify, they weren't Minor Threat under a different name. Ian just led both is all. They were in no way "emo" as it is refered to today. Ian McKaye is a really articulate and confident guy. |
