Operation Sedan crater. I believe it's the largest crater ever made during underground nuclear testing Wiki |
Based Camp. Original purpose: Support base for the defunct Central Nevada Test Site. Three wells were dug to support the Spartan nuclear warhead underground tests. Only the first "qualification" shot occured, code-named Faultless. Go 21.95 miles North-North East and you'll find the ground zero. I've stood at ground zero for Faultless - it was a 1 MT shot that showed the CNTS was unsuitable for Sparten-sized shots i.e. 5 MT. Subsequent shots were moved to Aluetein (sp) Islands in AK. Now, it's purpose is supposed to be a backup/emergency airfield for the Groom Lake Air Force Base/Area 51 airfield. Go 76.63 miles SSE and you'll see that this base is right in line with the main airfield at Groom Lake. Where be my cookie?

yes, at the bottom in the Layers box that says Spot Image and Digital Coverage. Click on those two and boxes with dates will pop up to indicate when those areas were photographed. |
You got it, but what's it's name? ETA: my bad you got it. for some reason when I hit the quote button "Base Camp" didn't come over. That is the place it is a back up airfield for the Area 51. The cookie is in the mail! |
Trinity Site, NM Zw, my PC is slow tonight, your second post and my edit passed each other - forgot to answer the first time. Here's a good one: What's at this EXACT location, not what's near it, what's at that location? 76 34 05.71N 68 17 34.86W I've been there, I got the coordinates off my GPS unit. |
Is it Thule AB, Greenland? |
