Could you please provide quotes from Fudds bashing the EBR owners. I have searched for comments and threads before on numerous hunting websites and forums and can never seem to find as many negative comments as I do right here on ARFCOM. Is the Fudd conspiracy real or just the creation of the "We would rather stand alone crowd" of Arfcom? The Fudds must sure have some lobbying power to get all the computer commandos so up in arms. |

Some years ago I was at the range. This was a public state parks range. I made the mistake of going on Saturday in November. The place was packed. A rather portly unwashed fellow, with lots of realtree on was packing up his stuff and offered me the bench he was vacating. I thanked him and began to unpack as he completed packing. As he saw the AR come out of the case his eyes got wide and he yelled WHAT DO YOU HUNT WITH THAT THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I calmly replied " Poachers ". His face got red and he just sputtered something about needing to call a ceasefire to get his target. I looked through my binos and saw the target was surrounded by 5 shots. I said, don't worry about it, you didn't use the part i need. He said thanks and stepped back a bit as I proceeded to put 20 runds into the 10 ring off hand. It was a fun time. The range officer was bawlling at the whole exchange. |

ARFCOM does bash Fudd's a lot. Maybe too much sometimes. I have had people at the range talk bad about my AR's and look at me with great disgust. It usually goes something like this "What do you need that for" "Those are only made for killing people" Don't forget the ammo either. I have caught hell from the ammo counter. I purchased about 300 rounds from Walmart and the person behind the counter said it was a waste of bullets since I wasn't hunting or sighting in a deer rifle. Wait till someone chimes in with a good story. It's happened to most people I know. |
Yeah there's a difference between some guy at the range being an asshole who just happens to hunt, and 'hunters' as a group. |

| I was at the range a while back, and a range officer -of all people- walked up to me and asked me if I was going off to war. I asked him what he meant by that, and he nodded to my AR. I said - "buddy if you dont like AR's your spending your Saturday in the wrong place, there's going to be dozens and dozens of those out here today." Sure enough there were. I havent seen that range officer scince then. |
There are quite a few other gun writers, mostly for the hunting and outdoor mags, that have come down solidly on the anti black rifle side of the issue. Some have been vocal despite the Zumbo issue, others have kept quiet. I forget their names offhand, but quotes, with linkages, were prevalent during the weeks "after Zumbo". |
By "recently" do you mean since the Zumbo incident? Not bloody likely. Writers like their jobs too much. Sponsors like money. |

Now thats what I am talking about!!! I have a Model 700 varmint rifle, but i love to shoot my Colt Accurized. |
|
Wow- Lumpy, you are just too cool! |
|
UNPOSSIBLE!!! IT'S ILLEGAL TO HUNT WITH THOSE THINGS!!! |
Now the question is what load do you recommend? |

LUMPY!!! Where's the picture with the chipmunk!? Anyway-I think the hunter bashing here is "teh ghey" but I know plenty of Deer and Duck guys who would have no problem with outlawing most handguns (not Thompson Encores) and ARs/AKs etc. I should have gone to the next page before posting, you da man! |
+1, at least on the meaning of Fudd. Fudd doesn't mean a hunter. Fudd means someone who does some recreational activity involving guns, usually hunting or skeet/trap, but thinks that his sport is the only reason anyone should own guns and it's okay to ban any gun that isn't designed for his sport. They see themselves as Hunters or Skeet Shooters first, and Gun Owners second, if at all. They side with the gun grabbers on almost all important issues. And most of them time, they can't shoot for shit and have lousy safety practices too. I don't hunt, but I respect other peoples' right to hunt with whatever weapon is appropriate. Just keep in mind that the purpose of the Second Amendment is Defense and Hunting is just an activity you can perform with your guns, and we'll all be cool. |

Hunter != Fudd Fudd = gun owner who doesn't care about the RKBA, except for what he owns. Sometimes they even go farther, and wouldn't care if America had English style gun laws, because their guns of choice would be unaffected. You can be a hunter, and not be a fudd. However, you are more likely to find Fudds amongst the hunting crowd that any other segment of the firearms world, hence why they have been labeled "Fudd" |

I was out at the range a few weeks ago. There was a guy out there shooting a black powder rifle. He saw my AR and asked the inevitable question, "What do you hunt with that thing?" I told him, "I don't hunt, but if someone broke into my house, I'd damn sure blast them with it. So, I guess you could say I hunt people with it." He seemed somewhat amused at that thought. A little later, I went back to my truck to get something. As I was passing his table, I commented "That's a nice looking rifle. What brand is it?" He started looking it over. He looked at the scope and proudly proclaimed that his rifle was made by Bushnell. Perhaps sensing his mistake, and wanting to change the subject, he pointed to the turret on his scope. "Does 'up' mean it moves the scope up, or the strike of the bullet up?"
