I say it would have to be "Miami Vice"

They had the best cars.
Great location.
Great scenery (beaches and bikini's)
At the time, the war on drugs was coming to a froth and this show was making a statement with regards to drugs and its enforcement.
First show ever to incorporate pop-music with pop culture.

So what say you?

Most entertaining? Miami Vice (Babes, Music, Scenery, Babes, Cars, Babes....)

Most realistic?  Barney Miller

Close second to most realistic? Hill Street Blues.

Most rediculous? The list is WAY too long....

Nash Bridges and Walker: Texas Ranger
#1. They get to shoot somebody in every episode.
#2. They never get suspended
#3. They never get any type of civil action filed against them

I loved Miami Vice!  I currently like Nash Bridges-its hard to watch Cheech however, I keep flashing back to "Up in Smoke". S*W*A*T was so long ago, I would have forgot about it except for Trader's reference to the UPS truck.

Miami Vice was great for the first few seasons...it started going downhill about the same time as the 80s were dying down.
SWAT was good for its time.
I also seem to recall a short-lived show called "Strike Force" I think, with Robert Stack, sometime in the early 80s that was pretty kick-ass.

#1- Miami Vice ( Sheena Easton and Gina are hot, hot, hot! )
#2- Streets Of San Francisco ( I know, ya, ya, ya... ) One episode even had a young scrawny looking dude who was Don Johnson.  Terminator also paid his dues on "Streets".

Starsky & Hutch!!!!

BTW, they are remaking it; as a movie with Vince Vaughn as Hutch and Ben Stiller as Starsky.

Who should play "Huggy Bear"? Martin Lawrence?

The best show was clearly "HOMICIDE: Life on the street"

gritty, realistic, honest

makes NYPD blue look like BS to me

I liked the one with the star, he was rough and had some bad thing in his past....and he was really tough with everyone....
and he gets that new woman partner or cop on the same shift that works with him, and she is real tough too, but they get to be friends and care about each other in a tough buddy sort of way, but they never quite sleep togther...
oh, and some street guy is their main snitch, and can find out everything that's going in the streets (be it on the dope sale level or who's taking out building permits at city hall) and is really funny...
what was the name of that show?

Accutally, he died after the local CBS station's 30 year aniveristy special.  His age is still up for debate.  Some say his age was closer to 75.

The Andy Griffith Show. Andy and Barney really did some damn fine police work in that little town.
