I’m looking into getting a new flash light this winter for hiking and camping "yes I camp in the winter"

It needs to be hand-held, extremely bright “the highest candle power possible” and affordable, something along the lines of a dive light "no Surefires" Anyone have any recommendations or good websites to visit?

BTW, what is the highest candle power available in a portable flashlight? TIA

Compact, 4 hours battery life, 100 lumens brightness. 'Nuff said.

check out the UK SL6 light, its a piercing beam that runs off of 6 C batteries and puts out 201 lumens with a battery life of 4-5 hours.  bulb is xenon.

I'm going to need something much bigger and powerful, note I'll be in the middle of the woods in pitch black.

I'm wanting something with this design

Surefire has a new G2 LED. $65. 80 lumens. 12 hours. Sweet.

I get by with much less powerful lights than the Fenix P3D in that environment.

How much money ya got?

$400 gets you a 1,800 lumen Microfire HID model (or in a rechargeable configuration for $460)...

Or, if you're looking for a low-dollar LED model, it's pretty hard to beat a Fenix Rebel - 175 to 200 lumens ain't too shabby!

BTW, "candlepower" is a pretty meaningless specification. Using the "Lumens" spec instead makes it easier to compare apples to apples.

I'm looking to keep the cost under $100 and the "candlepower" above 1 million. Not sure how candlepower translates to lumens
