Well, I went into my local Gander Mountain today with some money and a pistol permit. I walked out about an hour later with nothing... Absolutely nothing. I am not sure how they can stay in business. I guess most of the world does not know or comprehend the extent of the fleecing they are doing to our fellow gun owners. Had a note pad with me and here are a few examples: Compensated G-21 no nite sites $799.99 G21 SF $749.99 (Used) G-30 $609.99 Bushy Varminter $1399.99 (Used) Bushy Varmiter with the 1/2" rail risers $1449.99 ![]() S&W MP-15 Performance Center Varminter $2299.99 Walther P-22 Long barrel only $449.99 SA XD 45 $679.99 Mini 14 Ranch Rifle (not the new target model) $799.99 Kahr Arms P-45 $949.99 S&W 460 $1349.99 Bushy M-4 style rifle $1099.99 Bushmaster marked 30 round mags $29.99 Bushmaster marked M-4 stock $139.99 AR Carry Handle $149.99 G-18 mag $59.99 I guess one of their employees got the idea that I was a little frustrated while looking around, and asked if he could help me. I told him I didn't see how they could sell anything considering the prices they had. He said about every firearm in the store went up $100 when their "Gunsmith" started certifying them. You get an extra year of warranty and a free cleaning when you bring it in.... ![]() Guess I will stick with the EE and Gunbroker. |
Sportsmans warehouse is where I got mine but I dont reload they were on clearance so I bought all they had which was 4500
|
I wont go to SPortsman warehouse due to them treating me like shit there. Their prices dont seem that outrageous here. i saw a .444 XLR MArlin for $379 if i remember correctly at Gander, I also checked out their AR-15s and they seemd a normal price for living where I live. I like thier ammo selection, but i did notice they are rather high in price for ammo. You can find though the hard to find rounds.

I work part time at the local Gander Mtn and I told them in no uncertain terms that their new pricing was going to cause them to loose business. For the last couple of years, they've been pushing the associates to sell more extended gun warranties. The idea is that most buyers never return their guns for the free clean and check, and new guns almost never fail in the first two years of service. So the $20 they were charging for the ext. warranty was basically free and clear profit. Since most of the associates in our store new the ext warranty was a scam, we never pushed it. I take it that the associates in the 100 + other stores felt the same way. So, Gander corp. comes up with this brilliant Gunsmith Certified program. All the firearms went up anywhere from $50 to almost $200 depending on the original cost of the gun. I've sold one gun in the past two weeks since they've introduced the program, and the only reason the sale happened is because the young lady (yep lady) was going on an elk hunt and found a Tika that fit her perfect. All I did was the paperwork, the gun sold itself. Gander expects to loose 10% initially from the program but thinks it will make up for it in the long run with the higher prices and the "service" they are offering. What bullsh*t. I went in last week and told the manager that I no longer wanted to be scheduled, he could keep me as an on-call employee, but that's it. And btw Gander Mtn will no longer price match guns. The price is the price, no discounts! |

Only gun I bought from GM was a 10/22 and I had them price match Walmart. Price matching is about the only reason I can justify shopping there. I try to help them out and throw them a bone once in a while.....it is depressing walking into ours and the store being empty every time. ETA: ^^They wont price match no more? YIKES! that sucks........ |
If you are a Team Member you can read my post here. IMO GM is the suxors. |
| The Gander Mountain here in Houston (Spring) is outrageous too. I went in there when I was looking for a new AR and they wanted $1100 for a Bushmaster M4A3. I ended up getting the same gun for $850 through an ad on Guns America and didn't pay 8% sales tax either. I saw even higher prices at a large local gun store (Carter's Country) so from now on all of my guns will be purchased online. |

Ours doesn't have prices nearly that bad. I think 600$ for a G21 or so, the AR's are like 1200$ Thought I still don't know why you'd buy any guns from them in Winchester VA with at least two awesome gunshops with way better prices here. (Stonewall Arms, Frederick County Firearms. Both of which are class 3 dealers that cater to the EBR crowd) |
| GMtn. has always been like that. There prices are beyond rediculous. I stopped in the other day I am looking for a kel-Tec PF9 (cash in hand). They had a NIB there for $379, I would normally just walk away but I had to tell the guy behind the counter how rediculous it was. It ticked me off enought that there was a couple next to me about to purchase a feather weight SW snubby for $650 I leaned over and told them to go across the street to Academy (which I just came from) for $200 bucks less and they left; the guy behind the counter was pissed. I am pretty much done with GMtn. |

Tell Gander Mountain what you think. I just did.. Feedback Form Can anyone one sayyyy.......ZZZuuuummmmbbbbooooo ARRRGGG like a Pirate....

That will stir shit guaranteed. A fire mission from legitimate posters would really do it.
|
I am serious. If you have visited their store and have complaints, please let them know about it. Please don't send one just because. They could be a great store considering they amount of stock they carry. They need to realize the old business saying it's better to sell 10 for $100, than 1 for $1000. I don't think they get it. Or maybe greed has just taken over at which point they may be a lost cause. |
They don't care if one person complains. When many complain, they tend to take notice. I hit that page like a mutha. |
Folks, shit from that link rolls down hill fast when I was there...things may have changed since then. Edit: Only if the poster is legit, name phone etc.
