What is a GROM bullet?  I understand that it's a "soft point with a solid shank".  What does that mean?  What does it do?  What is it for??

It's a bullet that only has a lead core in the top half of the bullet, being "solid" gilding metal on the bottom half.  The idea is to limit expansion of the bullet, increasing the retained weight of the bullet, which insures more reliable penetration.  This would be desirable when hunting larger animals that require lots of penetration to reach the vital organs.
