Martini & Rossi. Opened it about a year ago, not refrigerated.

Toss it or drink it?

I like to cook with vermouth. It's good to deglaze the pan with after cooking chicken. Makes for a tasty gravy. Keep it.

Is it good enough to mix to make a Manhattan?

I hate to throw anything away.

Yes. It does not go bad. It is essentially white wine that has had herbs soaked in it and removed. Wine does not go bad with age, it gets better.

Depending on the type of wine, storage conditions, and other variables, it can and will go bad.

Dry Vermouth should be refrigerated and keeps for 6-8 months.  Other types will keep for around a year if refrigerated or stored in a cool, dry place.

That's not to say you can't drink it after those dates, but it definitely won't be the same taste experience, and it may be quite a bad one.

Why take a risk. Dump it out and drink some cough syrup instead.

If you're the kind of persone who lifts a pinky finger while you sip from the cup, dump it out. If you are the kind of person who would drink from a bomp crater if you were thirsty, then chug it and smash the bottle on the sidewalk. Why dilute the experience with bourbon.

You can't make a martini or a Manhattan without it.

Screw it, I'll toss it. Too bad BevMo is closed.

If you're the type of person who enjoys mixology, and it's Dry, dump it.

If it's Red, quick, start making Manhattans.

I guess you lift your pinky when you sip from the cup. Make sure you wear your pink crocs when you go outside to deposit the bottle in the refuse receptacle.

Sweet red vermouth goes great with a PBJ.  No kidding, and I bet red wine (esp the more fruity varieties) would go great with a PBJ, too.

Just sayin'...

None of the above.

But why mix bad vermouth with premium whiskey?

When I was a kid, my dad used to keep a bottle above the stove. I think he replaced it once every 3 years.

It's bad. Pitch it. As has been mentioned, its basically flavored wine, and wine can and does spoil once exposed to air.

I've never had anything with alcohol last long enough to worry about it in my house.

I used to throw the lids of my fifths away when I opened em..

Why would I need it again?
