I might be able to get a brand new Motion Computing LS800 Tablet PC with Bump case and USB Keyboard for a total price of $400. Good buy or not? It's not hot.... I know the seller personally. I'm looking for a small laptop PC that I can use for both work and college. I was just thinking of getting another Toughbook like the one I was issued for my patrol car but I wanted something a little lighter and easier to use. What really got my attention about this one is the fact that it uses a pen, which means I can simply write notes when I'm in class. It has a write feature.... That seems pretty niffty. I don't plan on using this thing for gaming and such. I plan on using it for report writing , record lectures, and maybe watching a movie or two. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BUMP CASE (It's the one on the right) ![]()

The tablet style is light years ahead of a standard laptop for taking notes , presentations etc . Our company uses Motion tablets for all field personel . I just write across the screen and it "types" it for me . Its way easier to use the fingerprint recognition for passwords as well. They are suprisingly tough. We use them in industrial enviroments , exposed to all sorts of EMI , grinding dust etc . They have proven to be far more reliable than our IBM Thinkpads Only complaint is there is one service facility in the US , so if it needs to go in for service it takes a while Despite the cost premium over a standard laptop, our company will only issue tablets now $400 seems like a great buy |
| It's a good buy but be sure that's what you want, the screen size is small, and if you're using to take notes in class that screen isn't even as wide as a half sheet of paper. The 2100 or an old 1400 will serve you better for school work. The 800 is pretty much aimed at the estimating and inventory control types. |
He actually got the 1600 for $400. |
