I've been on "The Job Hunt" since June 14th.

I've interviewed several times and on two times in particular, I would have been the perfect guy for the job. I had more/better experience than the person selected both times (the interviewers told me this both times...) but the person they selected each time had experience supervising (babysitting...) more people. I've been in charge of up to 18 people before.

The first position would have been over 60 - 80 people. The second job would have been over about 100 people.

WTF?

Then I interviewed for a job yesterday & today. I saw the job description during the first interview yesterday and I was a PERFECT MATCH for what they were looking for.

Then I interviewed with the company owner today. We hit it off well and I could tell that he really liked me. But...towards the end of the interview, he straight-up tells me that I was OVER-QUALIFIED for the job. I even saw it written across the top of my resume' that I submitted yesterday. He then tried to talk me into one of two other positions that I have no experience in. One was in sales and the other was a service writer.

Again, I ask...

WHAT THE FUCK, OVER?!?!

How hard is it to see that I am the person for the job...that I am QUALIFIED to do the job, that I WANT to do the job, and that I am MORE QUALIFIED than the other persons applying for the job...HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT?!?!

rant off........

I'm pretty damned discouraged right now. This is the longest stretch that I've been unemployed since I started working in May of 1983 washing dishes at the Pizza Hut in Sedalia, MO.

I'm now actively seeking to get back on with the company I worked for over in Kuwait. It's not a question of "IF" but "WHEN" they re-hire me. I really don't want to go back over there but I'm starting to feel like I don't have much other choice.

This sucks.

Sounds like you are more technically qualified and less managerially qualified than the other candidates. It sounds like the positions you are seeking are managerial situations, at least I would assume so if you will have 100 people reporting to you.

In that situation your technical skills will be a far second to your managerial qualifications. They have people who know how to do the work, they need a manager to deal with the people to ensure the work get done.

I feel your pain! Ive been looking for a job for about a month now with little no results. I did find out a few things you dont want say at an interveiw...
When asked "Why do you want to come to work for this compnay"
DONT answer "Because I need a job and you need an employee"

Also

When asked "How long do think you will stay here if hired"
DONT answer "Until something better comes open"

..I was hungry, worn out, and tired of playing 100 questions and not get the job

Given your description - it seems that you were technically qualified for the first two positions but not evaluated as being fully qualified to manage teams of 100 people given your past position was supervision of teams of 18.

The second company assessed you as over-qualified for the position.  It makes no sense to hire an over-qualfied candidate for a number of good business reasons.  While it is disappointing to the candidate - the company is looking for a good fit of "right person for the right position at the right time".

Keep applying and interviewing.   Good luck!
