New to my area. Never been in one, or even seen one before. Checked out the website, looks kinda interesting. Recommendations, menu choices, etc...? HKO |
Mmmm, the Royal Burger. And the onion rings . . . Honestly, it's a lot of money for a little burger, but somehow I always leave stuffed to the max. The nearest one to me here is 90 minutes away, so it's a rare treat. We do it as a family thing when the opportunity arises. |

50% off for military and LEOs (some restaurants will do the discount for your whole party. This makes it cheaper than McDonalds for me). Excellent burgers. THe Royal Red Robin with the fried egg on it is my favorite. The grilled salmon burger kicks ass too... Nice looking waitresses... |
No sheet? Is that new? I used to eat at one all the time - I'm going to kick myself if it turns out I could have eaten for half price. |
What if the trip is all of two blocks? It's definitely not gourmet, but for a neighborhood bar / food place - I couldn't complain. I found nothing substandard about their burgers, FWIW. |

The wife is allergic to mustard, honey, and seafood - gives her blisters. After being assured by our (cute) server that the Whiskey River BBQ sauce had none of the above in it, she ordered the BBQ chicken wraps. She couldn't eat more than a few bites - she said it tasted "burnt". It turns out that there was mustard seed in the sauce - it's probably what she was tasting. A half hour later she was doubled over. A handful of benadryl and pepto and she was better by morning. I sent an e-mail to RR corporate asking about the contents of the sauce. Got a personal e-mail back from one of their folks apologizing profusely for the incident. The next time we went to the RR near us we mentioned the BBQ sauce and our (different) server mentioned that it had mustard in it. Needless to say the wife stays away from the BBQ. ![]() |
I didn't like 'em in Seattle, and now that they've shown up here, I don't care for them here either, particularly with many other choices. The closest to home is about 8 miles, then 12 or 14 to the next one, and there are no restaurants closer to work than 2 or 3 miles. Well, there is a Subway across 6 lanes of traffic and innumerable Chinese places |
| My kids like to go there every once in a while. It's alright, but ~$10 for a burger-in-a-basket is a little spend for Big Daddy. The ones that I've been to have all had very well-trained wait staff. With two kids, though, I can't get out of the place for less than $30, it seems. |
|
They take not-so-great burger patties and cover them up with tons of fillings. They do have a pretty big menu, and their drink selection is good (alcoholic and non). Free fry refills are nice, but I rarely used it. They're okay for a change every now and then, I guess, but I rarely eat there because they are overpriced. $10 for a hamburger is ridiculous. |
That says more about your local labor force than the restraunt. The food is very good, it's 'fun', I dig the music. The kind of place parents and kids can appreciate. |

Never been there, but my parents have been. From them, I heard good things about the food and bad things about some of the people who frequent the place, with regards to their age, maturity level, noise level, etc. In their opinion, there were way too many noisy, rowdy teenagers running around. Gave them a headache. My parents tend to favor places like Bob Evans, Applebees and Olive Garden. I'll have to try it out sometime, I think there's a Red Robin in my area, and it probably caters towards younger folks. I'm 22, so I suppose that makes me fairly young. ![]() Damn near every restaurant in my area has a bar, with the associated bar-like atmosphere and is noisy as hell. I'm used to it. To get away from that, one would likely have to pay top-dollar and dine at a more formal establishment. |
Hell, it's hard to really screw up a burger to the point where it is inedible, dangerous or just plain nasty. I don't care how drunk, high or hung over the restaurant's cooks are...

| New one in my area. I went once, food was delicious, beer was cold, service was terrible. The waitress was obviously new, hopefully she will improve. I would not hesitate to go there again though, looked like everyone else around me was getting good service..... |
For what it's worth, my girlfriend and I have that same problem everywhere we dine; $30+ bill anywhere we go, from the local diner to the large national chains. It's not like we order the most expensive things on the menu, either. Seems that these days, to do better in terms of price, one has to either produce the food themselves, or stick to McDonald's. Food prices are nuts. Oh, and restaurant breakfasts seem to be cheaper than dinners for some reason. |
![]() This is probably the best thing said in the entire thread ! All too true. |
Yup. I always get this one or the Royal Robin. That egg just kicks ass in a logic defying way! Only thing I don't like about Red robin, is they have that TGIF happy fun spazzy wait staff thing going on. I came to eat, not have a friggin carnival experience.... |
Thanks for all the feedback.
Per my local food reporter ^ ( Guess I'll wait for the 'new' to wear off, and be very selective on the menu front. You can visit their website and customize your own burger....... ![]() Red Robin Thanks again. HKO |

Places like Red Robin depress me too much, because one of my manic-depressive friends worked there. The artificial atmosphere and "family friendly" vibe reminds me of TGI Fridays and the fictional "flair" restaraunt from Office Space But +1 on the strawberry lemonade! |
Couldn't answer that for you. We are always in uniform. I don't go there much otherwise because they are expensive without the discount. |
