Hello all I usually don't post here but over on FNFAL.COM. I am trying to put together a group purchase of Unimogs. Basically buyers will put up money before purchase, then we will send an importer to buy the unimogs from Europe. Unimogs will be sent to Colorado and titled and brought up to US spec. Then shipped from CO. The price for these will be in the area of $4300 + shipping from CO to your local. Check around it is a hell of a deal. If you go to the website I posted above you would see a Unimog. This deal was primarily for radio trucks in the begining but the importer we are dealing with assures me it would be possible to get troop trucks also. I am not good at posting pics. But just use any search engine and type in Unimog. Please look at my website. http://members.tripod.com/kingslug0 KingSlug |

KingSlug, I doubt these trucks can be brought up to U.S Spec for on-road use. For the same reason you don’t see surplus U.S Armed Forces trucks on the road. It's just too expensive to bring these vehicles up to spec. It's more cost effective to buy a new vehicle. Besides, aren’t these trucks notorious for breaking down? What about replacement parts? I'd like one too if it was capable of going on-road. |

BigZ, there already quite a few Unimogs licensed and on the road in the U.S. If you do a search on the net you will find numerous sites in the U.S. devoted to Unimogs. Most four wheel drive magazines have had an article on Mogs. As far as parts there are several sources in the U.S. including Mercedes-Benz (the manufacturer). As far as breakage, these are considered INDESTRUCTABLE ! Gunrunner |

For the price he is talking about it would be UNIMOG 404's and they are street legal. I know because I drive mine all the time, and it passes all inspection criteria. All I had to do to mine was swap the orange tail lights for red and install lap belts. As for reliability its a Mercedes, enough said. Parts are easy. Between NAPA, the Mercedes dealer and the UNIMOG dealers you can get anything. What other Mercedes comes with rifle racks in the cab!?!?! And I see lots of US surplus trucks on teh road around here, no problem. I even own a few. |
