SGTAR15 reminded me I should post an update on teh Gyrojet rocket gun. I received the scale lockwork for the back from my machinst friend. I mounted it to some pegboard to try the action, since I don't have a frame built. Worked fine. There were some tollerance issues with the machining, but no design issues. Hopefully, the next step is delving into the rocket chemistry itself. This is going to be a bitch. I am ordering some alloys and metal rod from McMaster-Carr this week, and hope to have machined rocket hulls ready to torch off by the end of next month using standard propellants to begin with to test the stregnth of the rocket bodies. |
